Roger Patterson is a long-time Bee Improvement and Bee Breeders Association educator. The class will take you through all the steps necessary for making your apiary sustainable. All of this starts with the queen rearing program and Roger will share his experiences of the last 50 years of queen breeding excellence. Roger is a practical beekeeper with an uncanny sense of obserrvation and a wealth of practical experience. He is active throughout UK and Europe. Roger arranges the bookings for the National Honey Show and BIBBA.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS WILL RUN ON MONDAY, TUESDAY, AND WEDNESDAY. These programs are "Day in The Life of a Sideliner." These will be hands on working in an apiary doing the inspections on hives in the middle of swarm season. May is the most important month for a Hudson Valley beekeeper. Seeing how a professional works his hives is an invaluable experience. You will be shown how to inspect a hive, what to do with a hive preparing to swarm, disease recognition, mite testing, nosema testing, selection process for possible queen donors, feeding, and cell building.
