Welcome on Wheels By: samantha Diaz

Zoom School is Still Cool

Senior Class Moderator Mrs. Figueras throws peace signs at our schools first Welcome on Wheels event on Friday, September 4th. With students doing school on zoom the event was a great way for the teachers to see the students in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. “I loved the Welcome on Wheels event because of the joy, energy, and school spirit that it evoked from our entire OLLA community. We truly are strongest together!" says Mrs. Pino, Director of Campus Ministry.

All Smiles

Seniors Caro Castaneda and Vale Mestayer pose for a picture with their senior masks at Welcome on Wheels. Seniors enjoyed Jeremiah’s Italian ice, and got a collection of gifts from the school. “I thought it was a great event and it made me happy to see some of my classmates who I haven’t seen in a while.” says, Senior Caro Castaneda.

Goodbye for Now

Senior Jillian Diaz waves at her teachers as she passes her senior booth. The event had four different booths for each grade and each was decorated with their class colors and themes. “I really enjoyed Welcome on Wheels, because it gave me a chance to see my teachers who I have missed so much,” says Senior Jillian Diaz.

Car Hangout

Seniors Claudia Candela, Caro Castañeda, and Vale Mestayer enjoy their Jeremiah’s in their cars as they hang out after the event. Seniors decked out in all their purple accessories and wore their purple crowns which were decorated to their liking. “I was so glad to finally see all my friends while enjoying my Jeremiah's Italian Ice, which is my favorite at OLLAfest,”says Senior Claudia Candela.

Honk for Seniors

Senior Caro Castaneda decorates her car for the event. Students of all grades decorated their cars with their theme colors, and phrases for the Welcome on Wheels Event. “On my way to the event many people honked after seeing my sign ‘Honk for Seniors’ and it was really funny,” says Senior Vale Mestayer, who decorated her Jeep.
