Eric and Jessica November 26, 2016

Like a river flows, surely to the sea

Darling so it goes, some things are meant to be

Take my hand, take my whole life too

For I can't help falling in love with you

"Typically this is a time in a ceremony when the bride is given away by the prominent man in her family. The number one man in Jessica's life, Luke is here today not to "give away" his mother, but rather to officially adjoin both himself to Eric's side as son and as brother to Jon, as well as his mother to be Eric's wife. From this day forward, Eric, Jon, Luke, and Jessica, will be family, together moving forward as a unit born of love for one another and God."

"O come, let us sing unto the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms. For the Lord IS a great God, and a great King of all gods." Psalm 95:1-3

When Jessica said "Amen", Eric and I must have thought she said, "You may kiss the bride" because we leaned in for a kiss. She was able to stop us before we kissed.

You may now kiss each other to seal your vows

Oo-wee babe you set my soul on fire. That's why I know you are my only desire. Oo baby, here I am, signed, sealed delivered, I'm yours. Here I am baby. Oh, you've got the future in your hand!

Best wedding party, EVER!
So very serious!!
And I would walk a thousand miles...
I'm pretty sure that Eric just pinched my butt.
We are family.
We so appreciate everyone that made the trip over Thanksgiving to celebrate with us! It truly was the best day, ever.
Best friends.

My Mem
While we waited to walk into the reception, the DJ announced that Travis was needed in the hallway. As soon as he walked out, she told the story of Emily saying the only thing she regretted about her wedding was walking into the reception to "How Sweet It Is" instead of "You Can Call Me Al" like Travis wanted to. She started playing it and then announced Mr. and Mrs. Travis Shears and wished them an early SEVENTH Anniversary. It was a fun surprise for Travis that we were excited to pull off.
Our words are strong and our hearts are kind. Let me tell you just exactly what's on my mind. Baby, you are the best thing.
The bakers printer ink was low, so part of Eric's surprise Georgia cake had beautiful Tennessee orange on it.
Sweet Jacob running to join our first dance.
Princess Norah and her Prince Luke.
'Cause this is thriller, thriller at night.
We couldn't have pulled this off without my awesome sister!

Jon made me ugly cry with the sweetest toast.

Mem had us laughing with childhood stories.
Laura blessing our meal.

I asked Luke if he wanted to give a toast and he said no. No biggie. After Laura prayed, he walked up and asked for the microphone. I looked at him and asked if he planned something and he shook his head "No". It wasn't written down, it wasn't recorded and no one remembers exactly what he said, but it started out something like this...

I wasn't planning on doing this, but feel like there are a few things I need to say. First, he thanked everyone for coming. He shared his sincere appreciation on behalf of us. Then, he turned to Eric and in a moment became a man. I so wish I remembered his words, but it was all about his momma and love and being loved. How happy he was to see me so happy. I'm pretty sure that is when I cried one of my eyelashes half off. (Bonus if you can find pictures where it shows)

Real men cry.
Sister shared our story and her heart. Jacob helped me hold it together.

Somewhere over the rainbow

Way up high

And the dreams that you dreamed of

Once in a lullaby

Somewhere over the rainbow

Blue birds fly

And the dreams that you dreamed of

Dreams really do come true

Listen baby, ain't no mountain high, Ain't no valley low, ain't no river wide enough, baby, to keep me from getting to you. If you need me call me no matter where you are, no matter how far. Don't worry baby. Just call my name I'll be there in a hurry-you don't have to worry. If you ever need a helping hand, I'll be there in a double just as fast as I can.

It's my wedding, I can sing if I want to.
I have no idea what we were singing, but I can guarantee we were LOVING it!

Growing up, "Legend in Your Own Time" by Carly Simon was my moms lullaby to me. Then, I sang it to Luke. When my mom realized that the DJ dedicated it to her, she almost couldn't stand. I loved that my Aunt Khacki, cousins and Luke came up. Such a precious moment.

Not gonna smash cake, he said.
A few weeks before the wedding, Mem called to tell me that Norah asked if she could wear her "Princess" shoes in CJ's wedding. What other shoes would our princess wear?
My heart and soul.

"I could tell you my adventures–beginning from this morning,’ said Alice a little timidly: ‘but it’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.’"

The White Rabbit put on his spectacles. “Where shall I begin, please your Majesty?” he asked.

“Begin at the beginning,” the King said gravely, “and go on till you come to the end: then stop.”

MommaDot wasn't able to travel with us, so we called her and she led us in prayer just before the ceremony started. It was so special to be able to include her.

MommaDot is famous for prayers that make you cry. Fortunately, Norah Bug saying "It's ok, Mommy. Don't cry, CJ." brought some chuckles, so our eye makeup didn't run.

Our wedding didn't have a set theme. Our tables were assorted bottles and vases with flowers. There was one mason jar that had a Mickey head on it. I told the girls they could get any dress and asked that they chose something that was in the peacock colors. We chose peacock accents for Norah. Our boutonnieres and corsages were Mickey heads with a peacock feather. The more I added peacock accents, the more I wanted a full on peacock wedding. As a matter of fact, we changed the girls shoes to green the week before the wedding. The day before the wedding, I decided to glue peacock feathers on my shoes. Just before the wedding, Julie asked me to come outside. The hotel room sliding glass door led directly to the aisle, so I was nervous to go out because I knew that Eric would be walking out at any moment. She insisted and when I took one step out, she pointed to my left. You can imagine my surprise and joy when I looked over and saw a peacock! I thought I was losing my mind. Okay, if you want to get technical, it is a peahen, but I'm still calling it a peacock. This was just one of the many moments of the entire celebration that our AWESOME God made His presence known.

Normally birds freak me out, but this one excited me so much that I was only a little disturbed.

The first time ever I saw your face, I thought the sun rose in your eyes. And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave to the dark and endless sky, my love.
