Crossover VEXIQ Challenge William wupperman

Crossover is a game created by VEX for the VEX IQ robots. It allows players to design and build their own robots. This challenge is played on a field with 2 robots competing.

Each cube Scored in the Scoring Zone 1 point

Each cube Scored in the Low Goal 3 points

Each cube Scored in the Elevated Goal 5 points

FACETS OF THE GAME

There are a total of d 8 low goals and 12 elevated Goals. The game is played on a 4’x8’ rectangular field with 60 seconds to completer the game. The goal of the game is to get the highest score by placing cubes in their Scoring Zone and Goals.

RULES

-At the beginning of the game you must be in contacting with the floor.

-The robot must fit within the set staring position.

OUR STRATEGY FOR SUCCESS

We will have a large arm to hold several blocks. 4 wheels for stability. robotic arm will move up and down. We can pre-program the height the arm needs to be to place the blocks in the tower. So we can just go up to the tower with our blocks, press a button and the robot will automatically put the arm at the level we need. Possibly put 2 motors on the one arm for extra strength.

WHAT HAPPENED

We did win, our autonomous program work flawlessly. Even though the other team didn't have a autonomous program. Our robot was quick and gripped the cubes well. Our claw did fall off, but we have fixed that problem.

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO NEXT?

Our plan is to ensure our clay will stay on, and update our autonomous program. The new program should knock down more blocks. We also will be practicing driving and scoring points.

Reflection

I learned that Johnluke and I worked well together. We were productive, but still had fun. We got off task, but managed to still come through with a succsefulll "Bot." We also learned that Johnluke and I need to practice driving. If I could change one more thing I would change, the amount of time or how I managed time.
