The Red Shoe by ursula dubosarskey

Ursula was born on june 25th, 1961. She is one of the finest australian novelists. She has also written many children's books, lots of those having to do with cats. Her inspiration for The Red shoe was her own family, which was said in an interview.

This novel takes place in Australia, in the early 1950's. it's about a family that goes through hard times.

The family includes The mother and father, as well as their daughters, Elizabeth, Frances, and Matilda. And many other characters.

The plot is basically just strange conflict involving the family. I don't want to get too into detail, and retell/spoil the story.

The theme of this book is to not trust everyone, even if they are related to you.

Personal Opinions

I think this book is great. It depicts how large events of the world can impinge on ordinary lives. Everyone should read this book.
