History of the park and/or area: History of Rocky Mountain National Park began when Paleo-Indians traveled along what is now Trail Ridge Road to hunt and forage for food.
Things to do/see while visiting the park: hike to a high mountain lake.
Be on the lookout for (something unique to the park; plant, animal, etc.) Rocky Mountain National Park spans 265,769 acres of pristine wilderness (358 square miles), making it one of the largest national parks in the United States. Trail Ridge Road (which connects Grand Lake and Estes Park) opened in July 1932. Approximately 11 miles of the drive along Trail Ridge Road are above timberline.
Ways to protect the park: By picking up our trash, and by not starting forest fires.
