Duff Elementary

RISING IN TRADITION; THRIVING THROUGH CHANGe

Our hearts are broken over the situation that occurred at Timberview High School this week and the entire Mansfield ISD students, staff and community are in our thoughts and prayers. Please know that safety is always a priority and we spend time practicing fire drills, severe weather drills, shelter in place drills, and intruder lockdown drills so students are comfortable knowing what to do during an emergency. We work diligently to strike a balance between teaching the safety procedures and protocols and not creating a sense of fear. These drills allow us to find areas in our system that are strong and improve any that could be potential weaknesses. If you are on campus during one of our drills, thank you for practicing the protocols and procedures right along with our students and staff. We also explicitly teach students to be respectful, responsible and ready to learn everyday. We coach students in solving problems and give them tools that will empower them. We also teach them when an adult is needed to help them navigate a problem. Thank you in advance for taking some time during this long weekend to talk with your children about the importance of treating everyone with kindness and respect.

We hope you are looking forward the four day weekend as much as we are! Friday, October 8th and Monday, October 11th there is no school. Hope you have fun plans to visit the state fair, play in the park, sleep in a little later, read a book, watch a family movie or just simply enjoy a walk around the neighborhood. This is Texas and the cooler weather has certainly been invited; but hasn't yet decided to stay!

Friday, October 15th is a big evening for Duff Elementary. We will kick the evening off with a PTA meeting and our 3rd grade students will be performing their Silly Spooky Spectacular, followed by the PTA sponsored Monster Mash where there will be dancing, games, music and loads of fun! Rumor has it that our very own Mr. Lewis will be the DJ! Look below for the flyer that has the link for preordering a meal, and times. Please note, students must be accompanied by an adult for the entire event.
