Your family adventure begins bright and early on Monday, April 10 when you board your Westjet flight at 5:45 am. After a brief stopover in Toronto, you are on to the beautiful destination of Costa Rica for 9 wonderful nights! You will arrive in Liberia, Costa Rica at 12:34 pm local time (3:34 Newfoundland time).
From the airport, you will get a private transfer to Tamarindo, located on the Northern Pacific coast of Costa Rica in the Province of Guanacaste. The district has a population of 6,869, although the town itself is about 500. The approximate driving time 1 hour and 40 minutes (78.2 kms). Here you will be brought to the Tamarindo Hotel Diria Beach Resort .
This 4-star family-friendly resort is located on the beach and has 4 swimming pools, 6 restaurants and 5 bars. A double standard room, bed and breakfast category, will be reserved for you. It is a fantastic location where you have access to many excursions such as snorkeling, diving, zip-lining, hiking and atv tours. An on-site tour desk is available to arrange tours and excursions. Your 5 night stay here will enable you to enjoy all the area has to offer.
On Saturday, April 15, you will depart for the second area of Costa Rica - Arenal. A shuttle will take you on the less than 4 hour journey to your accommodations at the Arenal Kioro Suites and Spa. Your double standard, bed and breakfast room awaits. This 5-star property offers a stunning panoramic view of the majestic Arenal Volcano. The natural beauty of this place, surrounded by lush, tropical gardens, is where you will spend your next 4 days.
Excursions in the Arenal area include canyoning (horseback/hiking tour), tour to the Arenal Volcano, the Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge as well as an Arenal Hanging Bridges tour among others.
On Wednesday, April 19th, you will depart by private transfer for Liberia Airport. Approximate driving time is 2 hours and 30 mins. Your West Jet flight will depart the Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport at 1:40 pm.
Your flight will arrive in Toronto at 9:00 pm on Wednesday night where you will take the free shuttle to the nearby Crowne Plaza Toronto Airport. Your double standard room awaits for a restful break on your journey. Only 5 minutes away, this hotel has both a pool and restaurant that are open until 11:00 pm. The restaurant, La Brasserie, is also open at 5:30 am for an early morning breakfast.
The next morning, Thursday, April 20, your West Jet flight will depart Toronto at 9:25 am with scheduled arrival in St. John's, NL at 1:55 pm.

All of these details are, of course, subject to your approval and availability at time of booking. Adjustments and changes can be made at your request. In regards to flights, I did check the option of flying into or out of San Jose but flight times are very limited as well as more expensive. I also checked Air Canada flights for similar dates as you mentioned flying another airline one way if cost was less . Air Canada April 10 was $733, return was April 20th at $823...quite a bit more than West Jet. Also, if a longer stay is desired, I can price that but it will go over the 2 week time frame due to shortage of available flights.
