Team Updates
UAV team had their 2nd meeting on October 15. The former Chief engineer and Flight systems lead came out to answer any questions the team had about the interior and exterior works of the plane. It was also the first meeting where people officially joined the team. The team is now working on getting the project started. A materials list and design of the plane is the first priority, and will be done within the next two weeks. Raising money, recruiting more members, and putting in orders for parts is another goal for the semester, as they want all material in before winter break.
Hobby Rocket Team - There have been some technical difficulties with getting into SR1 532 the past few weeks, but that has recently been resolved! Jordan Palmer, of the team members, is currently working on a thrust vectoring control program to allow a rocket to land vertically after takeoff! The manager, Jose, has made a carbon-fiber rocket and plans to launch it soon. Finally two members have bought rocket materials and are working on building them in the upcoming weeks. Meetings are on Fridays at 6pm in Science and Research 532, and anyone is free to join! The team also has a discord.
Space City Rocketry - The subteams and their members have been set. In the near future, testing will be done on different black powder systems for rocket separation. Propulsion is currently designing a Modular Motor Mount, and will start on a prototype in November. Structures is working on CAD, and avionics is designing a new tray to accommodate analysis. The form to enter the Spaceport America Cup competition was submitted on October 15!
