"Closer" by The ChainSmokers

Hey, I was doing just fine before I met you

I drink too much and that's an issue but I'm okay

Hey, you tell your friends it was nice to meet them

But I hope I never see them again

I know it breaks your heart

Moved to the city in a broke down car

And four years, no calls

Now you're looking pretty in a hotel bar

And I can't stop

No, I can't stop

So baby pull me closer in the backseat of your Rover

That I know you can't afford

Bite that tattoo on your shoulder

Pull the sheets right off the corner

Of the mattress that you stole

From your roommate back in Boulder

We ain't ever getting older

We ain't ever getting older

We ain't ever getting older

You look as good as the day I met you

I forget just why I left you, I was insane

Stay and play that Blink-182 song*

That we beat to death in Tuscon, okay

I know it breaks your heart

Moved to the city in a broke down car

And four years, no call

Now I'm looking pretty in a hotel bar

And I can't stop

No, I can't stop

So baby pull me closer in the backseat of your Rover

That I know you can't afford

Bite that tattoo on your shoulder

Pull the sheets right off the corner

Of the mattress that you stole

From your roommate back in Boulder

We ain't ever getting older

We ain't ever getting older

We ain't ever getting older

So baby pull me closer in the backseat of your Rover

That I know you can't afford

Bite that tattoo on your shoulder

Pull the sheets right off the corner

Of the mattress that you stole

From your roommate back in Boulder

We ain't ever getting older

We ain't ever getting older (we ain't ever getting older)

We ain't ever getting older (we ain't ever getting older)

We ain't ever getting older (we ain't ever getting older)

We ain't ever getting older

We ain't ever getting older

No we ain't ever getting older

Imagery: "So baby pull me closer in the backseat of your rover" This is imagery because it puts an image in your head of someone pulling someone close to them in the back seat of a car.

Hyperbole: "Stay and play that blink-182 song that we beat to death in Tuscon." This is a hyperbole because you can't beat a song to death no matter how much you play it.

The authors purpose of the imagery was so that we get an image in our head of how they are in love and want to be close to each other in the backseat of their car. The authors purpose of the hyperbole was to prove how much they listen to a song because it is saying that they beat it to death because they listen to it too much.

"Don't let me down" by The ChainSmokers

Crashing, hit a wall

Right now I need a miracle

Hurry up now, I need a miracle

Stranded, reaching out

I call your name but you're not around

I say your name but you're not around

I need you, I need you, I need you right now

Yeah, I need you right now

So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down

I think I'm losing my mind now

It's in my head, darling I hope

That you'll be here, when I need you the most

So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down

D-Don't let me down

Don't let me down

Don't let me down, down, down

Don't let me down, don't let me down, down, down

Running out of time

I really thought you were on my side

But now there's nobody by my side

I need you, I need you, I need you right now

Yeah, I need you right now

So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down

I think I'm losing my mind now

It's in my head, darling I hope

That you'll be here, when I need you the most

So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down

D-Don't let me down

Don't let me down

Don't let me down, down, down

Don't let me down, down, down

Don't let me down, down, down

Don't let me down, don't let me down, down, down

Oh, I think I'm losing my mind now, yeah, yeah, yeah

Oh, I think I'm losing my mind now, yeah, yeah

I need you, I need you, I need you right now

Yeah, I need you right now

So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down

I think I'm losing my mind now

It's in my head, darling I hope

That you'll be here, when I need you the most

So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down

Don't let me down

Yeah, don't let me down

Yeah, don't let me down

Don't let me down, oh no

Said don't let me down

Don't let me down

Don't let me down (down, down, down)

Don't let me down, down, down

imagery: " Crashing hit a wall" This gives you a picture in your head of someone crashing into a wall when they are drunk and denting their car.

Hyperbole: "I think i'm losing my mind now" This would be a hyperbole because you can't loose your mind no matter how confused you are.

The authors purpose for the imagery was so that you could see how in love she was because she wasn't paying attention to everything around here she was too busy thinking about her love life. The authors purpose for the hyperbole was to also show how in love she was because when you love someone for so long you can just stop thinking about everything and everyone else and just think of the one you love.

"Make you miss me" by Sam Hunt

You hear a new song, it's your favorite

Pretty soon you'll be changing the station

And all your old shoes are looking brand new

They wanna be worn but they never get the chance to

Heavy into everything

Ready for the next thing

Catch a ride for a while then you're over it

You change your mind on it

Soon as the shine's gone

Like you always do, but you don't know it yet but

Woah woah

I ain't gonna be that easy to leave

Woah woah

Girl I'm gonna make you miss me (like a baby misses their blanket)

Make you wish that you were sleeping in my shirt

Lie about my jacket and tell everyone it's yours

When your phone rings after midnight and you're thinking maybe it's me

Gonna make you miss me

You're cold and hot

You burn out like a matcha

Keep a slim knot in the strings you attach

You think it's easy, but that's a lie

The only reason that you're good at goodbye is

Every boy you ever met, was too easy to forget

Well, I ain't going out like that

Woah woah

I ain't gonna be that easy to leave

Woah woah

Girl I'm gonna make you miss me

Make you wish that you were sleeping in my shirt

Lie about my jacket and tell everyone it's yours

When your phone rings after midnight and you're thinking maybe it's me

I'm gonna make you miss me (yeah)

Woah woah

I ain't gonna be that easy to leave

Woah woah

Girl I'm gonna make you miss me

Writing letters that you're never gonna mail

Stay up and paint my favorite shade of red on your nails

'Cause you can't fall asleep and you're wishing you were with me

I'm gonna make you miss me

Make you miss me

Make you miss the way my hand fit in your hand

When you're dialing my number listening to my favorite bands

I'll say, hey baby you know all you can say

Is come and get me

I'm gonna make you miss me (miss me)

I'm gonna make you miss me

And oh oh oh

I'm gonna make you miss me

Metaphor: "All your old shoes are looking brand new" This is a metaphor because it is comparing your old shoes to your new ones saying that they look alike.

Personification: "You burn out like a match" This would be personification because a match can't burn itself out.

The authors purpose for the Metaphor was to show that old shoes that are never worn will always look brand new. The authors purpose for the personification was saying how boring the girl can be when she gets tired or when she doesn't get her way. A match cant stay lit forever so that is what it was saying.

My life is like a circus

All of my friends are the crazy animals

My parents are like the ring leaders, always making sure I'm doing the right thing

My siblings are the clowns because they are always trying to pull pranks on me

And I am like the audience, just sitting back and watching.
