Alone Together Mrs. LaVonne McIlrath, Head of School

APril 20, 2020

We are all in this together!
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

I read recently that Puzzle Warehouse, in St. Louis, Missouri, typically sells 1,000 puzzles a day. In the last few weeks it has sold as many as 10,000 puzzles a day!

Maybe you are like me and have attempted to do a puzzle or two during this very "puzzling" time. I completed a 750 piece puzzle and then got brave and purchased a 2,000 piece puzzle to do over spring break!

It certainly has been a puzzling time, nothing like any one of us alive today has seen in our lifetime. We wish we had answers to our many questions. The good news is that more people are streaming Sunday church services than would ever enter the doors of a church. Many are reaching out in faith and prayer for health and for healing. Even our Lt. Governor Jon Husted referred to scripture during a recent press conference. In reference to the progress being made with COVID-19 he quoted Galatians 6:9, "Let us not grow weary in doing good."

I believe God can and will bring something good from these trying times. Let's pray to that end. And no, I haven't finished my 2,000 piece puzzle YET.

"And we know that ALL things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

How have you been spending your time (other than school work) during the quarantine? Puzzles? Fun activities or projects? Serving? Long walks, scrapbooking, reading? Email me some of the fun and innovative things that your family has been doing during the quarantine and I can compile a list for our next "Alone Together". lmcilrath@libertychristianacademy.org

"Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. There is no searching of His understanding. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youth shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:28-31

"My future is as bright as the promises of God!" Adoniram Judson, Missionary to Burma
"Everything that is (ever) done in this world is done by hope." Martin Luther, Pioneer of the Protestant Reformation
"My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus' blood and righteousness." Edward Mote, Hymnwriter
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4 - 8. What a perfect time to say "thank you"!
Teacher Appreciation Week may have to be celebrated "from a distance", but nevertheless, let's celebrate the amazing teachers that we have at LCA! Because this year it might look different, begin now to think of creative, innovative ways to express your love and appreciation to those special teachers.

During these last few weeks there have been so many questions, and so many emotions including anxiety, frustration, loneliness and maybe even fear as we have been "Alone Together". It takes an effort to be positive, to count your blessings, and to find the good things in difficult situations - but it is worth the effort.

Governor DeWine in a recent Press Conference quoted WInston Churchill by saying, "Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."

For us we are entering the "beginning of the end of the school year", which is typically a very busy season. If we are not able to re-open in May, we will soon announce graduation plans for our seniors, and creative ways to finish our year strong for all.

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." I Timothy 1:7

When will we return to school?
I continue to watch the daily 2:00 press conferences led by Governor DeWine and Public Health Director Amy Acton. Governor DeWine has indicated that he will address his plan for schools early this week. He has indicated that when/if we go back it will "look very different". We are preparing for that day and will share plans with you as soon as we are given direction.
We miss YOU! We are in this together and we will get through it!

The mission of LIberty Christian Academy is to provide a quality Christian education in a Christ-centered environment in order to reach students for Christ and equip them to serve God and impact the world through biblical thought and action.
