The Circulation Desk's mission is to facilitate patron access to library services and materials. General library information, Interlibrary Loan, media services, parking stickers, course reserves, TexShare Cards, and Wesleyan IDs are handled by Circulation. They are located to the left of the 1st floor entrance.
The Reference and Instruction Department connects students, faculty, and staff with information. Thus, the department facilitates patron access to information resources and provides instruction on the use and potential of those resources. All are welcome at the reference desk during reference hours, or can schedule a consultation by contacting the department. Faculty can schedule an instruction librarian to speak with their students on research topics specific to their courses. The Reference Desk is located to the right of the 1st floor entrance.
The Coffee Bar is available during library hours. Coffee, hot cocoa, and apple cider pods are .50 cents (quarters only); tea is free!
Computers are available to current students, faculty, alumni, and staff of Texas Wesleyan and are located on all floors, as are printers. Copiers are locate of the 1st and 2nd floors and scanners are on the 1st floor.
The TxWes Makers Lab is located on the first floor of the Library, and is a space where the TxWes Community has the opportunity to explore, invent, collaborate, and learn. The four sections of the lab are a 1) Fabrication Laboratory, 2) Design Spot, 3) Multimedia Production and Editing Studio, and 4) the Expanded Media Lab. The Periodicals Department actively supports West Library's mission by providing University students, faculty, and alum topical, up-to-date information from a variety of disciplines and catering to a variety of interests. Periodicals which support curriculum needs and general interest are provided. The department assists library patrons in using periodicals in paper, in microform, and in electronic formats.
The 3rd floor is the designated quiet floor. No group study/conversations/cell phone use is permitted on the third floor.
The goals of Special Collections are to provide archival support to the University and to fulfill the obligation of the West Library to preserve rare and special materials. Special Collections includes an extensive book collection and information on local history in a variety of formats. The Department houses the archives of Texas Wesleyan University, The Bobby Bragan Collection, The H. Howard Hughes Performing Arts Collection, and other archival and personal collections related to the history of the University or Polytechnic Heights.
The library provides a variety of study spaces. Collaborative and group study spaces (while observing a 6ft physical sistance!) are available on the 1st and 2nd floors. All study rooms are single use only, until further notice.
The 3rd floor offers quiet, individual study spaces. Please be courteous to other students by restraining noise levels.
West Library has a variety of collections. The general print collection is located on the 3rd floor. Periodicals are located on the 2nd floor. The 1st floor houses the Joe Brown Theater Collection, Twyla Miranda Juvenile Collection, Audio/Visual Collection, Game Collection, and Reference Collection.
