DBS Checks
What are DBS Checks?
The DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) was formed after the merge of the CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) and ISA (Independent Safeguarding Authority) as a means for employers to make informed and safe recruitment decisions. Carrying out DBS checks allows businesses to safeguard their organisation by preventing unsuitable candidates from working with vulnerable people.
There are 3 different levels of Criminal Record Check;
Taxi Licensing
We work alongside licensing teams to safeguard the public by providing councils with a professional, safe and efficient service for licensing drivers.
Support for Councils
Everything we do is driven by a desire to simplify the licensing process for Licensing Managers and their drivers and we provide on-going advice and support every step of the way.
Support for Drivers
Applying for a taxi licence can be complex and time consuming which is why we provide a service to help drivers become 'application ready' much faster and are on hand to guide them through each step of the process.
Barred List Checks
Personnel Checks are able to provide instant results from a barred list check. This check confirms whether or not the applicant is barred for working with children or vulnerable adults. There are two types of barred list check:
List 99 Check
Education providers are able to complete this type of check, now known as Children's Barred List Search through Personnel Checks. We can take your applicants’ details over the phone and inform you on the same day if the individual is barred from working with children, which will then be confirmed in writing for your records.
DBS Adult First
Formerly known as ‘ISA Adult First’ and 'POVA Check', the DBS Adult First is exclusive to the care sector and allows an individual to be checked against the DBS Adults’ Barred List. Dependent on the result of the check, this service allows the individual to start work under supervision while waiting for their full DBS check results.
DVLA Checks
Personnel Checks enable you to access drivers' DVLA records online quickly by providing a speedy driving licence checking service, allowing you to validate employees' driving licence information securely.
We can perform checks on drivers via an online portal which links directly to the DVLA, producing instant results and creating an auditable online record.
Safeguarding Training
Personnel Checks have partnered with 2 Young People Organisations to strengthen the delivery of the crucial safeguarding awareness and training which has been developed in conjunction with a youth charity. This framework tackles the importance of the role and responsibilities of all involved to ensure everyone is equipped with the correct processes and structure to safeguard young people and society
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the safeguarding training session, your staff will be able to;
- Understand the need to protect vulnerable adults, young people and children
- Identify possible victims of abuse and exploitation by understanding indicators of risk
- Identify sources of advice and pathways for reporting concerns
- Understand their roles and responsibilities in relation to personal safety and security
