Welcome Back to Garvey’s SunShine Shack Anguilla’s Can’t Miss Beach Bar is Open for Business

When news of Hurricane Irma's impact in the Caribbean reached us last October, there were so many people and places in our thoughts and in our prayers.

Of these, one place and one person had a particularly personal impact - Anguilla’s SunShine Shack and its owner, Garvey.

Garvey's SunShine Shack has always been a highlight of our time in Anguilla.

Caribbean Soul Trekkers first met Garvey at the Shack in 2014. Like long-lost friends, we connected immediately over our fondness for the island, good music, good food and rum punch. Since then, the SunShine Shack has been our first stop when we trek to Anguilla - often even before we check in to our hotel.

Picture this...beach bliss

Our beach days at the Shack have been marked by a vow renewal, unplugged music sets, graffiti wall art (look for our autograph next time you’re there), sunset Soca dance-offs and even a special cocktail made just for yours truly. It has inspired countless Instagram posts and Facebook videos on our social media platforms.

For us, the SunShine Shack is a place where we truly have experienced beach bliss.

Trek tip: you will most likely spend the better part of a day at this sliver of paradise. Be sure to place your food order as early as possible as food is served in the order it was ordered.

We could go on singing its praises forever, but there really is no need.

If you know Anguilla, you too know the SunShine Shack.

And if you know the SunShine Shack there really is no need for us to tell you about its dreamy location (an oasis in the sand on serene Rendezvous Bay), its one-of-a-kind design (a reggae-hued shack festooned with guest license plates, signatures and souvenirs), its mouth-watering menu (some of the best fall-off-the-bone grilled chicken, ribs, snapper and lobster on the island) or its incomparable host Garvey (like Oprah - only one name needed).

But what we will say is this...

The Shack is back!

Yes. The SunShine Shack is back!

After having been completely destroyed by Hurricane Irma, the SunShine Shack was in need of a complete rebuild.

And now, the SunShine Shack is back.
And there’s even more to love about it!

SunShine Shack 2.0 has has some new perks.

There is more seating under the covered patio. A new sound system has been installed. A new armada of paddle boards and floating tubes are on hand alongside the existing snorkel gear (and usage is complementary still). And, a new soca band livens things up even more on Saturdays (who by the way killed it on our visit there and their first time performing together as a group).

The SunShine Shack was always the perfect Caribbean beach bar.

And now, it’s even better.

But don’t take our word for it...

See for yourself...

A day at the SunShine Shack is the day your Anguilla vacation needs.

Be sure to stop by if you're visiting for the week or even just a day trip from Sint Maarten.

You’ll be glad you did.
