Tech Tip Thursday September 15, 2016

Do you have websites that you use ALL THE TIME? Are there multiple websites that you would like to automatically open every time you open the browser window?

Maybe you'd like to always have a tab open with email, gradebook, etc? Chrome has you covered!

Just pin the tabs!

Here's how to do it:

Open the Chrome browser.

Go to the specific website that you would like to pin.

Right click on the tab and select Pin tab.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

You'll notice that the words on the tab will disappear and all that will show is the favicon.

Now, hit the red X and close the entire window. Then, reopen a new window.

The tab you pinned will automatically reopen!

Want to Unpin the Tabs?

Right click the pinned tab and select Unpin tab.

BEFORE:

The words on the tab will reappear once you unpin the tab. The unpinned tab will no longer appear when you reopen a window.

AFTER:

Note: Pinning tabs will work on Chromebooks, but the tabs will NOT reopen once you close a window.
