Wild Pedder june 2017 Newsletter

We are into our off-season and whilst are boots maybe be sitting by the back door wishing for a fresh lick of Southwest peat, we have certainly been anything but idle.

Prepping for our next season is underway, the Tasmanian Tourism awards are high on our agenda and some of our media exposure of late has us grinning from ear to ear!

Hot off the Press

Lou & Cody are very proud with the recent exposure within some of Australia's (and the world's) most highly acclaimed publications. What started with an incredible feature by Tourism Australia on their website back in early May, soon led to a fantastic article by Great Walks magazine, and an online article through Lonely Planet. More recently we have had two feature articles in the Weekend Australian over two consecutive weekends within the Review lift-out, and the June edition of WISH Magazine! We could not be happier with the stories and cannot believe that we are seeing ourselves gracing the pages of these publications after only one year into our venture!

Please, take a look at the articles, and do not forget about our News page on our website for all of the latest!

Bookings open for 2017/18

Coinciding with our recent exposures we are starting to see enquiries and bookings. We would love to have the pleasure of showing you marvel that is Southwest Tasmania. Bookings can be made via our webpage www.wildpedder.com.au. And please feel free to give Cody & Lou a call anytime to have a chat about how we can make a Tassie adventure possible for you. Or just for a chat. The lads love a chat!

Our friend Andy, his friends and Federation Peak in Winter.

Our good friend Andy has joined us as a guide to help make Wild Pedder as good as it can be and he certainly adds a lot to our experiences. Andy has a swathe of outdoor adventure experience. He is known for spending months at a time in Tasmania's and Australia's wilds, often by himself. An incredibly exciting project that Andy and his friends have been working upon is releasing their film Winter on the Blade: an independent mountaineering expedition that conquered the first winter ascent of Blade Ridge on Federation Peak, Tasmania last year.

After ten hours of nerve wracking climbing that involved negotiating over 400 metres of vertical rock, Mark Savage and Mick Wright were nearing the crescendo of their epic: a slimy, overhanging roof blocked their way to the summit.

They are currently putting the final touches on the film, and look to have it showing at international film festivals soon. Check out the Winter on the Blade webpage and Facebook for more sweaty palmed madness!

The Past, Present & Future

...my mind keeps wandering back to Lake Pedder. What an amazing experience that was. My expectations were certainly met, and then some. I was challenged on several levels, but that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it? - Scott, March 2017

Our inaugural season may now be behind us, but the memories we made our firmly planted within. From our very first adventure back in November 2016 with four of the finest to our bumper month of April with three group departures, we had an absolutely phenomenal time. Nothing excites us more than sharing the wonderment of Tasmania's wilderness with people; seeing the satisfaction on their faces as they paddle upon Lake Pedder dwarfed by the Frankland range, or the enlightenment one feels upon a mountain summits!

We very much look forward to meeting you, and having our own Southwest Tasmania experience together!

To everyone, each adventure may have presented its own challenges but with encouragement from you both these changed to great personal feats of accomplishment. - Marg, January 2017
