eLearning Reminder:

Greenfield-Central has a planned eLearning Day for 2nd Semester on February 5, 2020. Teachers will use this time for professional development. Should you need assistance, please reach out to your teacher or call the office. Harris teachers will tentatively be available by phone and email from 7:50-11:00 AM.

IREAD: Third Grade Only

The IREAD 3 testing window for Greenfield-Central is scheduled for March 31st through April 3rd. This means that our students will take the assessment after spring break.

Author of the Month

Congratulations to these Harris students for being recognized at the January Author or the month. We enjoyed a treat and reading student work together. We are growing writers at Harris.

Harris Exceeds Expectations: Harris Elementary School is one of only three schools in Hancock Co. that received an ‘Exceeds Expectations' overall rating for the 2018-2019 Federal School Accountability Rating. We were one of only 87 schools in the entire state that achieved this! We are proud of our staff and students who work hard everyday, and we are grateful for the support of our parents.

Shoe Drive

Shoe Drive for Changing Footprints: Harris will again participate in this Hancock County fundraiser. Last year, Harris was recognized for donating the most! Below is more information about what we are collecting. Please use a rubber band to connect matching shoes together.

The top three students who donate the most shoes will get to silly string a staff member of their choosing!

First and Second Grade Music

Mark your calendars and plan to join your first and second grade student for an "informace" at Harris. Please see the attached note from Mr. Buckalew, our Music teacher.

Third Grade Music

Harris 3rd grade students look forward to showcasing their learning for family and friends in March. Please see below for more information.

Field Trips and Parent Volunteers

If you plan to attend a field trip with your student, you must have a background check on file. Please complete the Volunteer Application for this background check. The system has a delay, so you want to be sure to take care of this well in advance. The link is below.

Parent Volunteers: Our volunteer profile form is available for the 19-20 school year. Just click the link below! You have to be approved to work as a classroom volunteer and to chaperone field trips. The system has a delay, so you want to be sure to take care of this well in advance of volunteering.

Harris Drop Off:  Harris officially opens the doors to students beginning at 7:30 AM. Students left before that time are not supervised and left in an unsafe situation. Please ensure the safety of your child by supervising them until they are dismissed from your car by school staff.

Breakfast and Lunch

Lunch Accounts: You may put lunch money in your child's account at www.ezschoolpay.com. There is a small fee and you will need your child's student number found in PowerSchool. Lunch money may also be submitted by check. Please be sure to keep your child's lunch account in good standing. Additionally, our cafeteria computer system does not have the capabilities to put a "block" on student lunch accounts for purchasing extra lunch items. Please talk to your child if you do not want them purchasing extra items.

2-Hour Delays & Breakfast: Just a reminder that Harris does NOT serve breakfast on 2-Hour delays.

Lunch Visits: If you plan to visit during lunch, please remember that school rules apply for students: students must remain in their assigned seat, follow cafe rules, ask to use the restroom and remain in the cafe. Any food brought should only be shared with your student. Due to food allergies and illness, please do not share food with other students.

Attendance: We encourage all of our students to attend school whenever they are well enough to do so. Good school attendance is important in helping students achieve academic and social/emotional success.
