The Time of the Turning Bringing life and magic back to a dying world

Synopsis

With the alignment of the three suns a descendant of the Sy-entees is dying and the land of Sablewood is in danger once more as the magic begins to die and with it the land with which it is inextricably intertwined. The time of the Turning is cyclical it is the time when the Suns again correspond with the event that created Sablewood, an event in which one world died do to the arrogance of the Sy-entees and a new land was born from it's ashes as the life force of the sy-entees passed from the dying world to Sablewood giving birth to the magic which in turn brings the land to life. Now that the Suns have aligned and the last descendant of the Sy-entees has died the tears between the worlds are once again aligned causing the magic to bleed from the land and with it life itself. We see the once lush a beautiful land has become barren and desolate parts of the land have become hostile and dangerous creatures have begun to feed upon the unfortunate inhabitants of Sablewood.

The three blind Eneber priests must now make the journey across the wastelands and firefields which are home to the beasts with the sacred box containing the only hope for renewing magic and healing the lands once more, but time is against them. If they fail on the quest... If they do not finish their quest in time their world will end.

The wiseman guards the tree of life where magic remains the strongest awaiting the priests, but you can see that this land too is showing the effects of magic ebbing from the land. He is ancient and gentle and has become very close to the land. If the priests arrive in time this is the point where the magic will flow Back into the earth and rejuvenate Sablewood.

The Eneber priests move forward on to Jaron's cave

When the priests arrive the Wiseman opens the sacred box and we see that it is the newborn baby of the Sy-entees descendant. By bringing this precious life to the tree life is seen flowing back into the land in the form of plants and trees blooming, rain falling in the deserts, and magical creatures beginning to venture into the open once more.

The wise man awaits the arrival of the Eneber...
The Eneber Priest puppets await their journey

We used a combination of practical effects, puppetry and digital effects to bring this story to life. There are no words or dialogue, just haunting music and beautiful imagery.
