Kyla Thorpe Design Portfolio

These are the first two posters I made with Photoshop, for an assignment where I had to create advertisements for a travel agency. New Orleans and Milan are two cities I adore. To create these, I gathered images from the internet, cut out specific pieces, adjusted the color and placed them together in a way I felt was visually pleasing.
"Every great dream begins with a dreamer."
I felt very inspired for this project as I'm an extreme coffee lover. I wanted to create a layout that had a "coffee shop" vibe. For the opening spread, I used a fun coffee bean stock picture and embossed the headline to match it . For the second spread and third page I stuck to the same warm coffee shop colors, while also maneuvering around the grid to make the layout appealing.
(Click the three center images to enlarge) This newsletter project was designed for the Miami Design District. Blue and beige-ish gold are the accenting colors throughout. I followed a 7-column grid and heavily played with white space.
I created this study abroad poster for Barcelona with a photo on full bleed and and no white space. I feel that the more you can help a potential traveler visualize the location you're promoting, the more they'll want to go there.
"All men will see what you seem to be; only a few will know who you are."
I made this infographic to highlight the popular bars on Bourbon Street in New Orleans for tourists. The traditional colors of Mardi Gras are purple, green and gold, so that’s why there are purple building outlines, gold stars and "Bourbon Street" is Green. There is a little Louisiana on the map and a little red dot marking the spot of New Orleans. I traced the map from Google Maps to create this.
(Click to enlarge) This was a personal branding project. Included here is a logo slick with four different color combinations, a template for a Word document and the front of a business card.
Left: printable flyer, Right: E-flyer. I created these for a non-profit organization, specifically targeting millennials (clean + simple messaging and images).
