Least of these Networking within the community to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the undocumented in the Okechoobee city

PROJECT DETAILS

Our church ministers to many undocumented people from Central America. Many of them work in agriculture. These families and their children live below the poverty level. The limited formal education they have and not speaking English compound their difficult situations. The fear of deportation overshadows all aspects of their lives. The pandemic has negatively affected the undocumented community. They have suffered the loss of their jobs. unlike others, they are not eligible for government assistance given their undocumented status.

We have noted a great need for education in various aspects of their everyday life. We want to address these needs as part of our church’s outreach program. We are currently providing families food and clothes donations, but we want to impact the new generation with the light of the Gospel
We want to work with the kids in our community providing them with the hope of the Gospel. We also want to reach their parents through the interactions with the kids

We want to use these resources to show our undocumented brothers and sisters that Jesus cares for all their needs. Our church feels strongly that this is what God has called us to do, serve these families. We want to share the love of God with them and lead them into an ever-growing relationship with Jesus.

We will use the material on our church program on Sundays and Wednesdays. On weekdays we also visit the dairies houses ( Milk processing facilities) where the vast majority of these kids live.

We will distribute the materials to each kid so it can be used in the class. The program will be once a week for a year. We will have a basic sign-up for the program, so we can have telephone numbers and addresses. We will also have contact with the kids and families through the program, their attendance at our Sunday classes and visitation.
