Prof. A.K.M. Saiful Islam

Institute of Water and Flood management of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET)

Prof. A.K.M. Saiful Islam is a Professor at the Institute of Water and Flood management of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). His research interests centre on improving the understanding of the impact of climate change on hydrological cycles, mainly through the regional climate modelling, hydrological impact modelling and remote sensing applications. Prof. Islam has given more than 100 invited talks and seminars throughout the world. Prof. Islam has over 34 peer-reviewed publications, six book chapters and 97 articles in proceedings of international conferences to his name. Prof. Islam has been nominated as a Lead Author for Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), a United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change.

Dr. Sharif Shams Imon

ICOMOS Bangladesh and Institute for Tourism Studies, Macao

Dr. Sharif Shams Imon is the president of ICOMOS Bangladesh and an assistant professor at the Institute for Tourism Studies, Macao. He also a visiting assistant professor at the Architectural Conservation Programme, the University of Hong Kong. He has degrees in architecture, urban planning, business administration, a PhD in Urban Conservation and an advanced training in Integrated Territorial and Urban Conservation and is a member of seven professional bodies. His scholarly works include more than 40 journal articles, book chapters, conference papers, training manuals and numerous technical papers on historic preservation, management of World Heritage sites and cultural tourism planning and management. As a consultant for UNESCO, ICOMOS, UNESCAP and various governments, Dr. Imon has worked on World Heritage and heritage tourism management projects in 14 different countries.

Prof. Sanghamitra Basu

Department of Architecture & Regional Planning, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India

Sanghamitra Basu is a Professor at the Department of Architecture & Regional Planning, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India and has served as a member of the National Monuments Authority, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. With a PhD and an MA (York), PG (SPA, New Delhi) and B Arch (Hons.), Dr. Basu has been active in research and consultancy projects in the fields of historic preservation, sustainable tourism, participatory planning, housing and neighbourhood planning, quality of life and GIS application in India. She has several publications in journals, chapters in books, monograph and papers presented in International and national conferences and has authored over 60 technical articles. She is member of ICOMOS India and a coordinator of National Scientific Committee on Historic Towns and Villages; a member of Council of Architecture India and Indian Institute of Town Planners.

Dr. Suptendu Biswas

Architect, Urban Designer and Planning Professional, and Partner of VSPB Associates

Dr. Suptendu P. Biswas is an architect, urban designer, and planning professional and a partner of VSPB Associates, an award-winning consulting firm in New Delhi. He has completed B.Arch (IIEST, Shibpur), and M.Arch in Urban Design and PhD from SPA-New Delhi. Dr. Biswas is an expert consultant for the Smart City project in Jaipur and advises on heritage and inner-city renewal projects. He has been a Visiting Faculty member at SPA-New Delhi and is a Member of Doctoral Review Committee at SPA-Bhopal. He was a recipient of India Government’s prestigious Senior Fellowship for his research on Festivals of the Sundarbans. His projects, scholarly articles and interviews have been presented, exhibited and published in India and abroad and his book Assorted City has received critical acclaims and was shortlisted as one of the best five urban writings in 2016.
