Fall 2018 Lamar County Center for Technical Education

The fall semester at the Technical Center provided a wide variety of experiences for our students. We have 6 programs housed at our site - Automotive, Construction, Engineering, Health Science, Metal Fabrication, and Teacher Academy. In addition, we have 3 other programs offered on various high school campuses - Agriscience, Culinary Arts, and Early Childhood. Check out what we've been up to!

Students benefited from a variety of experiences from campus visits and competitions to trying new equipment and visiting new places!

This fall we welcomed several new members to the National Technical Honor Society. Students are invited to join NTHS based on their GPA and participation in a technical program. The students are eligible for various scholarships and benefits through NTHS.

Teacher Academy students helped teach a STEAM lesson at the Country School House in Purvis.

The lesson involved hands-on activities for children ranging in age from 4 to 11. TA students learned how to differentiate their instructions for different ages and different abilities.

They also enjoyed helping the students!

Health Sciences 1 & 2 had a busy semester! At the beginning of the semester, HS 1 students earned CPR certification. HS 2 completed 100 hours of clinical in addition to their course work. They practiced procedures for applying a sterile dressing. The students also prepared a menu according to the nutritional requirements for a patient.
