Crispin Science Accomodation Street, somerset

Futures for Somerset have worked with Crispin School to establish a site wide master plan that identifies a route map for maintenance and building priorities over the short, medium and long term. This strategic exercise has then been developed to enable successful bids for maintenance funding and for the school to secure grant funding from a local benefactor for the redevelopment of a new science block facility.

The existing science block was largely untouched from the original 1970’s installation and was in dire need of refurbishment. The school were also short of suitable science spaces in which to deliver the curriculum. Futures for Somerset have worked with DKA Architects (@DKA_architects) to develop a project that see the remodelling and refurbishment of existing science spaces, whilst providing a new 4-laboratory extension alongside.

Futures for Somerset have provided a range of services into this project. Delivering an end-to-end service we have provided Masterplanning, Feasibility, Project Management, Procurement and Employer’s Agent Services. In addition we have also assisted the school with bid writing to secure external funds.

The project value is in the region of £1.4 million. The site is in the heart of the campus and therefore has required careful planning and phasing to ensure safe delivery within a very challenging budget and timescale. The final solution is targeted for completion in late 2016 and will provide a modern, high quality science facility.
