Sarcosuchus The Largest Crocodile Ever

Sarcosuchus is an extinct reptile related to the crocodile. Its name translated in Latin, means "Flesh Crocodile." It lived in what is now South America and Africa. It weighed 8 tons and most were 36-39 feet long.

Skull of Sarcosuchus

The first Sarcosuchus was discovered by French paleontologist Albert-FĂ©lix de Lapparen spanning from 1946 to 1959, and American scientist Paul Sereno discovered 6 more specimens from around 1997 to 2000.

Sarcosuchus

Sarcosuchus existed around 112 million years ago, and its massive size demanded a massive diet. Luckily, before the Cretaceous extinction that wiped out the dinosaurs happened, massive animals were plentiful. Large fish swam in the oceans, and turtles then were around 16 feet wide, and 13 feet long. This does not mean that they were confined to water. If a dinosaur happened to stray too close, well they would be more than a meal for Sarcosuchus.

Archelon; the largest turtle ever

This is where a saltwater-living Sarcosuchus would either hint or lay eggs

They could also probably be found here if they ventured inland to find more food.
