Meet Alex Virtual construction manager

Alex Belkhofer, CM-BIM

Columbus, Ohio

After graduating high school in northwestern Ohio, I decided to attended The Ohio State University. While taking classes I participated in various co-operative education programs with architectural and construction firms so that I could gain experience in two different aspects of the architectural, engineering, and construction industry.

After receiving dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Architecture and Construction Systems Management, I chose to pursue a career in the construction industry because it appealed to my strengths and interests in managing the overall building process.

I was attracted to the industry because of the nature of how buildings affect our everyday life, the pride in craft and workmanship that can be felt for years to come after you've build a physical building for people. I also enjoy the technical aspects and challenges that come with building construction.

No one day is the same. Each day presents new and unique challenges that keeps you and your entire team on your toes, which in turn keeps the fire inside of us going to be passionate builders and problem solvers. Every day i go to work with my friends and co-workers who embrace and embody a culture of builders devoted to doing the right thing.

The best experience for me has been the opportunity to hold multiple roles and job positions within my nine years in the industry. It has allowed me to gain invaluable experience across multiple settings.

  • Be deliberate in pursing a projected career path while in school
  • Find your passion for building
  • Pursue a career, not just a company
  • Seek employment with a company that fits your desired culture. It's just as much about them hiring you as it is about you selecting them!
