Next Week's Schedule

PowerSchool Parent Selection for Return to Learn -- IMPORTANT!

Earlier this week, Kerry Birmingham shared information on the district's tentative plan to resume our hybrid model for secondary students at the start of the 2nd semester (Monday, January 25). It is very important for you to carefully consider whether you would like your student to return to our hybrid model or continue all-virtual. Selections can now be made in the PowerSchool Parent Portal (screenshot below). The portal will close on Tuesday at 5:00 pm. Please note that parents not making a selection by that time will default to the all-virtual option.

Thank You, LMS Parents!

Due to the generosity of the LMS community, our Holiday Gift Card Drive raised $1000 in donations! Five Larson families in need were supported with gift cards for area restaurants, retail, and grocery stores. This assistance undoubtedly made the holidays a bit brighter for these families. Thanks to all of you who contributed to this worthy cause in supporting our own. Special recognition to Karen Gittins and Anne Sackrison for organizing the drive.

One Troy Food Drive

The Bridge the Gap Food Pantry at Morse Elementary has a mission to feed those in our learning community. In regular times, they provide food to about a hundred families in Troy each week, but more recently, they have been supplementing food for hundreds of families. This is where OneTroy community can come together to support the program. On Wednesday, January 13th, and Thursday, January 14th, community members will be invited to drop off donations at Morse Elementary school. Wednesday will be a non-contact donation day where food can be left outside the main entrance. On Thursday, the community will host a reverse food bank where community members can simply open their trunks, and volunteers will unload donations. Please see the flier below for more information and the food that is needed.

Oakland Schools Parent Sessions

The most important thing parents and caregivers can do right now is to keep a love of learning alive for their children. Parents and caregivers are essential partners in supporting learning at home, but what does this mean? Parents do not need to be teachers or content area experts. Please join our Partnerships@Home Learning Series for some ideas about fostering curiosity and a sense of wonder during everyday family life. Registration can completed at the link below. Upcoming sessions include:

  • Ensuring the Well-Being of Your Family, Especially During COVID-19

  • Creating Routines (and Calming the Storm)
  • AND MUCH MORE!
