COULTAS, HORTON NAMED PAT McFADDEN AWARD RECIPIENTS ... John Coultas of the men's golf team and Ellie Rae Horton of the women's ski team, have been named the Pat McFadden Award recipients as the Florida Southern Male and Female Scholar Athletes of the Year. The announcement was made the department's annual Academic Awards Banquet. In addition, each team's recipient of the FSC Athletic DIrector's Scholar Award was announced (read more).

FOUR MOCS NAMED SSC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK ... Florida Southern took home four Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week honors this week. Sasha Nionova earned her second Women's Tennis Player of the Week recognition while Kendall Kerge was named the SSC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week for a second time this season. Kerge's teammate, Meghan Vadala was selected the SSC Defensive Player of the Week while Men's Lacrosse goalkeeper Matt Lalli garnered his third SSC Defensive Player of the Week. FLORIDA SOUTHERN TO HOST 2018, 2019 NCAA REGIONALSL ... The NCAA announced future dates for its 90 championships and Florida Southern will be the host institution for the 2018 and 2019 NCAA South Regional Championships. The event, co-hosted by Central Florida's Polk County Sports Marketing will be held at Lakeland's Holloway Park and Nature Preserve.

FSC WOMEN SEEDED THIRD IN SSC TOURNAMENT ... Pairings for the 2017 Sunshine State Conference Women's Tennis Tournament have been announced and Florida Southern (13-6, 6-3 SSC) is seeded third in the April 20-22 event at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, which is being hosted by Eckerd College. The 25th-ranked Moccasins will take on 6th-seeded Saint Leo, ranked 29th, at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday (read more).

MEN'S SQUAD TAKES FIFTH SEED ... The Moccasin men's tennis team will be the number five seed in the Sunshine State Conference Men's Tennis Tournament on April 20-22 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, which is being hosted by Eckerd College. The 38th-ranked Moccasins (10-10, 3-4 SSC) will take on No. 4 seeded Rollins, ranked 28th, at 10 a.m. on Thursday (read more).

Florida Southern will be the host institution for the Sunshine State Conference women's golf championship which will be played April 23-25 at the Country Club of Winter Haven. The Moccasins, ranked 25th in the GolfStat Relative Ranking as of April 3, will be looking for their first SSC championship since winning their fourth title in 2013. The men's golf championship will be contested on April 23-25 at the Duran Golf Club in Viera. The fifth ranked Moccasins, which have won 16 SSC championships, will be looking to recapture the crown they last won in 2010. (SSC Men's Championship Website)

SENIORS GO OUT ON HIGH NOTE ... Seniors on the 4th-ranked women's lacrosse team celebrated their final regular season home match with a 15-5 win over Lenoir-Rhyne last Friday. Dani Bursinger led FSC with three goals while Alanna Zambetti made eight saves. (read more).

Florida Southern (16-2, 4-0 SSC) will wrap up the regular season with a April 22 road match at Limestone in Gaffney, SC. The Moccasins, Sunshine State Conference regular season champions, return to Bryant Stadium to host the SSC Tournament on April 28 and 30.

MEN'S LACROSSE RALLIES PAST ROLLINS ... Florida Southern College men's lacrosse overcame a one-goal halftime deficit to earn a 9-8 road win over Sunshine State Conference rival Rollins on Saturday at Baker Family Stadium. The Moccasins (7-6, 2-2 SSC) used a dominant third quarter, scoring three times while holding the Tars (7-6, 2-2) scoreless in the third (read more).

LOOKING FOR TOURNAMENT SPOT ... The Moccasins will conclude the regular season with Senior Night on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Bryant Stadium. The top four teams make the tournament which will be held at the University of Tampa on April 28 and 30. FSC goes into the final game in a three-way tie for second in the SSC standings at 2-2 along with Rollins and Florida Tech.

BASEBALL SWEEPS LANDER ... Florida Southern travelled to Greenwood, SC and swept a three-game series last Friday and Saturday. The Mocs hit seven home runs in the series including grand slams by Mitch Reeves and Cody Burgess. (Friday Recap | Saturday Recap)

MOCS TANGLE WITH TAMPA ... The Moccasins will host the University of Tampa this Friday and Saturday at Henley Field. Friday's game is at 6 p.m. with a Saturday doubleheader to follow. The Friday night game and the first game on Saturday will be streamed live at fscmocs.com/gameday. Florida Southern (29-8, 7-5) is ranked 15th in the Collegiate Baseball Magazine poll while Tampa (27-10, 13-2 SSC) is ranked seventh.

QUINONES TURNS IN SIXTH FASTEST 1500-METER ... Evan Quinones ran a 3:53.80 in the 1,500-meter race at the Bucknell University Bison Outdoor Classic here Friday at the Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The time is the sixth fastest time in program history. Bobby Ormsby was entered in the 10,000-meter but fell at the start and did not finish due to an injury.

SOFTBALL RETURNS TO ACTION FOR SENIOR DAY ... Florida Southern returns to action after a rare weekend off from competition to host Nova Southeastern on Friday and Saturday. Friday's game will be at 7 p.m. with a Saturday 1 p.m. doubleheader to follow at the Auburndale Softball Complex. The Moccasins will honor their seniors players between games of the Saturday doubleheader.
