Parents’ Drop-in Session—Monday 22 May
After school on 22 May, we would like to invite you into school to have a look through your child’s books with them. The session will run between 3.30-4.30 and you can come at any point during this time and stay for as long or as little as you like. Teachers will be around but this is an INFORMAL drop in session and not a Parents’ Evening with specific appointments.
Online Safety Session for Parents
One of our parents works for O2 and in conjunction with the NSPCC offer training and support to parents and children. She has kindly offered to deliver a session to parents on Wednesday 3 May after school. She can advise on how to block, set up parental settings on phones/tablets and offer additional information as to who parents can talk to and report any bullying etc. Please join us, if you can, at 3.15 pm.

Well done to Ava from Class RS who won Buttons the Bear this week for some great computing work.
The latest classroom menace or an aid to stop fidgeting? Whatever our own views are these items are causing a distraction in school, so please do not let your children bring them to save any embarrassment for children or staff.
Advance notice—from September 2017 school meals will rise to £2.00 per day. This is still less than the majority of schools within Blackburn with Darwen/Lancashire. Our meals are well-balanced, healthy and of course tasty.
Additional Specialist Teachers
We are very lucky this week to have welcomed two additional teachers into school. Miss Crewe is a specialist gymnastic coach and will be working with both Year 5 classes on a Wednesday morning. In addition, Mr Wilson an Art Teacher from Darwen Vale, is coming in on a Friday afternoon to teach specialist art skills. He is working with 4B for the next couple of weeks and then with both Year 6 classes.
Please ensure that your child brings a water bottle to school every day, particularly now as the weather is getting warmer. To reduce costs and help the environment, we are not able to issue plastic cups.
wet play games
Although we are all hoping that the weather will continue to get better, there are occasions when children have to stay indoors at lunchtimes. If you have any old games/toys that you would like to donate to help us out, we would be very grateful.
Eight of our Year 5 children have been trained as money mentors. They have been delivering lessons on different kinds of budgets to the rest of year 5.
Year 5 children, Mrs Crossley, Mr Clegg, Miss Harrison and Mrs Brown are currently at Robinwood. Canoeing, Piranha Pool, Giant Swing and Archery are just some of the activities being completed today.
We wish our netball team good luck in their final 5 games—to be held next Tuesday at DACA.
