September at Minet

How lovely to see everyone as they return to Minet Infant School!

I do hope you have had an enjoyable and restful summer. The children have certainly had lots of exciting stories to share. We wish all our new families a special welcome, and we hope you will continue to value your time at Minet Infants School. We look forward to working with you and all the staff have been busy planning engaging and stimulating activities - as you would have heard about at the Meet the Teacher sessions. A copy of year group curriculum maps will be up on our website this week - do take a look.

We also welcome a new member of our team - Miss Crane, who is leading the learning in Starflower.

Year 2 trip to London

Year two went on a trip to see some of the famous landmarks of London. As well as the year 2 focus being “What Makes London Great?” this trip also offered a valuable new perspective outside of the classroom and a chance to experience the sights, sounds, hustle and bustle of a major global city. All the children thoroughly enjoyed spending the day in London and we look forward to reading their recounts of the day.

During the Summer we challenged the children to join their local library to take part in the 'Mischief Makers' Summer Reading Challenge. We were delighted to be able to celebrate the success of over 40 children who completed the challenge by visiting the library 6 times. The children spoke about some of the books they had enjoyed reading which included Horrid Henry, Farmer Duck, Handa's Surprise and information books about Arts and Crafts. The children were all very impressed by their beautiful medals, stickers and certificates. We are very proud of all our super readers.

Well done Mischief Makers!

A new academic year has started and we are very pleased with our new Rights Respecting display in the corridor. This month we will focus on:

Article 28 You have the right to a good quality education.

If you are interested in volunteering any day of the week…… We are looking for active people to help us at Minet Infants school, whatever your age! Whether it’s Arts and Crafts, gardening or supporting a small group of children within a school environment. If you think this is something you would like to do please contact the school office.

We have made a great start with our return to Zumba and Walking Football. Over the last 2 weeks we have had 18 mum's enjoying an early morning exercise but we need to have more Dads for the football sessions. If you would like to join us, we are in the school hall every Tuesday morning 9.00am -10.00am for Zumba and on the school field for the Dad’s football. The sessions are FREE and all Mums and Dads are welcome.
