Old school meets new School:A British Invasion project By: Jevon Mitchell

I was born by the river in a little tent. Oh and just like the river I've been running ev'r since. It's been a long time, a long time coming But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will. It's been too hard living, but I'm afraid to die 'Cause I don't know what's up there, beyond the sky. It's been a long, a long time coming, But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will. I go to the movies and I go downtown. Somebody keep tellin' me don't hang around. It's been a long, a long time coming, But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will. Then I go to my brother, And I say brother help me please. But he winds up knockin' me Back down on my knees, oh. There have been times that I thought I couldn't last for long, But now I think I'm able to carry on.It's been a long, a long time coming. But I know a change is gonna come, oh yes it will.

"A change is gonna come" by: Sam Cooke speaks on many issues. The song is about race issues, back in the day and how they affected the lives of the black community. Even though it was probably really hard to be a person of color, he knew that things were going to get better for the black community. Lyrics like, "it's been too hard living but I'm afraid to die" really give you an image of the past because he's telling us directly, the issues that he faced as a colored man back in the sixties. I believe that he made this song because many black peoples could relate to it and it could probably be seen as a beacon of hope, through the fact that he had faith of a better future for his people.

Love So many things I've got to tell you But I'm afraid I don't know how 'Cause there's a possibility You'll look at me differently Love Ever since the first moment I spoke your name From then on I knew that by you being in my life Things were destined to change cause Love So many people use your name in vain Love Those who have faith in you sometimes go astray Love Through all the ups and downs the joy and hurt Love For better or worse I still will choose you first Many days I've longed for you Wanting you Hoping for the chance to get to know you Longing for your kiss For your touch, for your essence (your beautiful essence) Many nights I've cried from the things you do Felt like I could die from the thought of losing you I know that you're real With no doubt or no fears Or no questions Love So many people use your name in vain Love Those who have faith in you sometimes go astray Love Through all the ups and downs the joy and hurt Love For better or worse I still will choose you first At first you didn't mean that much to me But now I know that you're all I need The world looks so brand new to me Now that I found love Everyday I live for you And everything that I do I do it for you What I say is how I feel so believe it's true You got to know I'm true Love So many people use your name in vain Love Those who have faith in you sometimes go astray Love Through all the ups and downs the joy and hurt Love For better or worse I still will choose you first

"Love" by: Musiq soulchild is about how a lot of people use love in vain and don't really take it serious. A lot of us take love in vain but even though we do, there's still people who don't take love for granted. He wasn't really speaking on economic. Issues but I think "love" is a huge social issues for a lot of different reasons. In my opinion, a lot of us don't really know what love is.

In my opinion, the only similarities between the two songs are the meaning of love. Just how, overall, we should treat eachother well and not take love for granted.
