Destruction of Natural Resources By: Brayden knight - Teacher:mr.upton- exhibition

Why I Chose this Topic: I chose this topic because believe it or not, it has been and still is one of the worst global problems. I also chose this topic because I wanted to show how you can stop it, and because this is a problem that you make worse everyday without realizing it.

What are Natural Resources: Natural resources are materials or substances such as minerals, forests, water, and fertile land that are placed in nature and can be used for economic gain. People cut trees, explode mountains, pollute, ect. Which all harms the environment. They are basically god given resources. They are what makes up nature. We harm them even though they are what led us up to what we are today.

Effects of the Destruction of Natural Resources: Human's always pollute, but that's going to come back and bite us. It can affect us by destroying homes, making people poor, basically all I'm saying is that it would harm us in many negative ways. Not only is it harming us, it's harming the world.

How We Can Help: We can stop this horrible nightmare by doing everyday things. We can recycle, stop littering, save wildlife, help a charity, ect. Sometimes even the little things in life can make a tremendous change. Do this everyday and you might stop it completely.

Organizations That Help: There are organizations that help with this problem as well. They are organizations that are local such as the Leadership Team (located in Greenville, SC. and global organizations such as the Natural Resources Defense Council (Located in New York City, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Bozeman, Montana, and Beijing, and China). The Leadership Team helps protect forests and stop people from harming the environment. The Natural Resources Defense Council basically does the same thing.

Jobs That Help: There are also many jobs that help with this problem. One of the jobs are foresters, I picked this job because it helps the environment a whole lot. They study the trees to check their health and growth, after they study it they make them healthier and grow even faster. You need an associate's degree accredited by the Society of American Foresters, and a bachelor's degree from an accredited school. You also must be good at science, math, and many other subjects.

How to Make a Big Difference: Sometimes the small things don't make a big enough change, so start throwing the big punches. We can do this by protesting, helping farmers, build natural parks, ect. There are many other ways you can help and make a big difference.

Self Reflection: I learned a lot about myself while making this. Everybody who doesn't work is not a good person no matter how nice they are, because there are all these problems going on and people just stand by and watch. At first I thought that this would just be some dumb project. It turns out it's a heart and mind changing thing. While making this I had a change of heart. I started to use my IB attitudes, which are hard working which helps us do more and better work, caring which allows us to be good friends/ partners and help people when needed, respectful which allows us to do everything with a good attitude and quietly, and many more. I grew a whole bunch while doing this project because it's basically learning your in a middle of a war that could destroy the world, even though the war has no guns or weapons.

Thank you for reading my essay on this horrible disaster. Try to research your own major problem in the world and make an effort to stop it!
