Learn to embody the present moment with compassionate awareness and discover the emotional, physical, and spiritual benefits of meditative practices. The God Who Sees Series, November 15, 7:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Jubilee Hall: Join us as we gather in person for education, inspiration, and discussion of a topic central to our church's mission work: Schools & Children. There will be theological reflection (why does this matter to our faith), and local experts Sonja Gantt and LaTarjza Henry will provide context for this issue within Charlotte. The Mystery of God’s Presence With Us: Grief Support Workshop Part III, November 15, 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., room 103 and via Zoom: Led by Rev. Bill Roth and Parish Nurse Lauren Smith, this workshop is designed to assist and support those grieving a loss. This will be a time of sharing individual journeys and coming to a deeper understanding of the grief process. A virtual option is also available. Table Tithe Collection, now-November 19: As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we are collecting gift cards to provide food for 100 families from our school partnerships. Families expressed their appreciation to be able to choose between prepared meals or groceries/ingredients, so we are asking for donations of $50 Harris Teeter gift cards. Pre-Order Your Christmas Tree, Wreath or Garland, while supplies last: Orders will be ready for pickup December 2-3. Due to a growing shortage, we have fewer trees this year. New - Room In The Inn Returns: After a year off, Room In the Inn is returning to churches around our city! Because we do not have access to our former space in the Youth Building, we will partner with our across-the-alley neighbor Myers Park Presbyterian to host Wednesday nights in their Outreach Center. We still plan to host 12 guests and provide a meal, a safe place to gather and sleep, showers, and fellowship. There are several different ways to get involved in this ministry. Maybe I’m Amazed - A Podcast with Dr. James Howell: Join Dr. Howell and Frederick “Fritz” Bauerschmidt, Professor of Theology at Loyola University, as they discuss Fritz’s new book The Love That is God and how this love can be both welcoming and challenging at times for Christians. Throughout his career, Dr. Howell has developed meaningful relationships with a wide spectrum of people, and he’s taken time to learn each of their stories. Advent with Kids: Author Book Signing, November 28 and December 5, 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Church member and author Wendy Wallace-Wright will sign copies of her new book, Advent with Kids, in the lobby of the Parish Life Building. Books will be available for purchase in Goodness Gracious.

New - Advent Labyrinth, November 30-December 22, Francis Chapel: During this season of waiting, come to the labyrinth for a uniquely prayerful experience. A special setting and printed materials will be available to guide you in a walk of preparation for Christmas. Please call 704-376-8584 before coming to the church to ensure Francis Chapel is available for your walk.

Music Ministry Christmas Concert, December 5, 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., First United Methodist Church, 501 N. Tryon Street: Save the date to join us in person for this wonderful Christmas tradition. The concert will feature singers from our Music Ministry, handbells, and orchestra.

Service of Hope and Consolation, December 6, 6:30 p.m., Sanctuary: This service is for all who seek solace and hope from our many losses this past year.

Children’s Ministries’ Outdoor Movie Night, December 10, 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m., Parish Life Building parking lot: Join us to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas. The Ben & Jerry's Hot Chocolate truck will be there, too!
