The Outsiders

The Outsiders is a novel narrated by a boy named Ponyboy Curtis. Ponyboy Curtis is in a group called the greasers which makes him one. Greasers hate the Soc's which is a group of bad rich kids who hate the greasers back. Ponyboy had two brothers named Sodapop Curtis and Darry Curtis. In the novel one of the main characters named Johnny (who is Pony's friend) stabbed a Soc, so him and Ponyboy had to run away. Throughout the book there are many wild and crazy adventures with the Soc's and Greasers from the rumbles to the fights even one of their own Soc's Cheer spying for the greasers.

Your probably wondering how these two books could possibly be related. Well in The Perks of Being a Wallflower it is about a boy who feels completely alone and isolated like an Outsider who ends up feeling loved and cared for. In the Outsiders it is about a boy who definitely feels diffrent and not in a certain group, he's unlabeled. He at first didnt really like anyone but Two-bit (another greaser) and his brother Soda. But in the end he opens up and becomes closer with more people. Lastly in both books both of the main characters are supported by their friends.

There are many diffrences one they are in two completely diffrent decades. The Outsiders takes place in the mid 60's and The Perks of Being a Wallflower takes place in the late 90's. Second Charlie has PTSD and anxity and in the Outsiders Ponyboy does not have any disorders or it doesn't talk about any. Lastly the plot of The Outsiders took place in many diffrent places like Tulsa Oklahoma, and abandoned church, a park, the movie theater. Perks of being a Wallflower takes place mostlu at school and at his house or Sam's

If you liked The Outsiders then try The Perks of Being a Wallflower because they are alike in many ways and also really different. They both also have different themes but in the end they both overcome their goals.
