Notes from the President District Update | October 2020

Hello Falcon Families!

Thank you Falcon Families! We appreciate everyone's understanding, support, and flexibility. Together we have ensured a successful start to the 2020-2021 Academic Year! We have now welcomed our 6th through 10th grade students back onto campus for hybrid learning, and we are excited to welcome our 11th-13th grade students back on-site for hybrid learning beginning 10/12.

We are excited to see such high levels of student engagement and to have been able to ensure all of our students have the necessary resources to access learning whenever and wherever they need! I am incredibly proud of the hard work our school teams are doing to support our Falcons and how much effort and time our teachers are putting in to their lessons, both in-person and virtual, to engage our students in active learning. We continue to have just over 90% student engagement each week!

Fall Learning Update

Please remember that if you have chosen to remain fully virtual we are expecting that you remain fully virtual through the end of this month. If you have chosen hybrid learning, you are able to change back to fully virtual at any time. If you make this change, you will need to remain fully virtual until the end of October.

Keeping these guidelines in place helps us to effectively manage our operations, in-person classes, and appropriately minimize potential exposure to COVID-19. All families and students will have an opportunity toward the end of October to decide how they would like to continue learning for November and December.

I will be determining the week of October 19 what learning options we may offer beginning in November. I will communicate out to all families the week of October 19 what these options are and how the district will move forward with learning in November and December. All families will have the opportunity to make a decision about November and December learning during the week of October 19. So, just as an example, if you have chosen to remain fully virtual at this time and would like to change to hybrid learning for November and December, you will be able to make that decision during the week of October 19 and start hybrid learning on November 2.

To help us in our planning, we would greatly appreciate your feedback. Please take a moment to complete the survey HERE or by clicking the link below.

Parent Engagement Opportunities

In previous years we have had a Parent Advisory Council (JPAC). The JPAC group functions as a liaison between our parent community and our district and school teams, and has a direct connection to our Board of Governors. We have had some turnover with parents who's students have graduated and some that just do not have the additional time to give anymore due to other responsibilities. If you might be interested in joining the JPAC and would like to know more, please email jpac.board@jacksonpec.org.

Communication and connection with our parent community is extremely important to our team, and even more so this year with the effects of the pandemic. We will have a number of opportunities over the course of the year for us to engage together, and I strongly encourage each of you to consider participating.

Upcoming opportunities:

  • October 8 - Coffee & Conversation for New Families - JPEC's admin team will introduce themselves and district and school leadership will be answering frequently ask questions. The recording of this session will be made available on 10/08. New families, please fee free to share your questions you would like answered with our office staff by emailing office@jacksonpec.org prior to Thursday.
