Makayla B. Eads

I grew up living with Boone Lake as my backyard in Bluff City, TN. The summers were always my favorite because summer meant wakeboarding, water skiing, and riding our boats. Even though my home was in Bluff City I often found myself all around the tri-cities. I went to high school in Elizabethton, TN at Happy Valley High School (better known as "Crappy" Valley ), and most of my free time was spent in Johnson City either shopping, eating, or watching a movie at Carmike. Choosing East Tennessee State University wasn't an easy choice, honestly I had vowed to never go to ETSU... yet here I am. I ultimately decided on ETSU because of how affordable it would make my college experience. Now I can look back and laugh about how upset I was about becoming a buccaneer, because it has changed my life in such a positive way.

My ETSU experience so far has been better than I ever imagined. When I started my original plan was to become a graphic designer, so I began my college career in the arts department. After a few months spent in my major I learned that even though I loved my classes that I no longer felt that that's where I needed to be. I met with people from a couple different departments and I quickly realized that was the department I needed to be in. So now ( my sophomore year) I am studying Media and Communications with a concentration in Public Relations/Advertising and a minor in marketing and have never felt more sure that I'm where I am suppose to be.

Next to choosing ETSU my second best decision was joining my sorority Sigma Kappa in which I hold the position of Sisterhood Chairman. Along with Sigma Kappa, I am also a member of the Strategic Media Club here on campus.

Because no "about me" project would be complete if I didn't include something about my love for Kenny Chesney (and yes, I do know that he attended ETSU). My mom bought me his "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems" album when I was five and much to her surprise I never grew out of my love for Kenny. Which is why I'm planning Kenny concert number six this coming June.
