PASTOR'S LETTER MAY 16, 2020

Dear Grace Ministry Family in Christ,

May God’s peace be with you all in this time of pandemic.

How are you all?

On Mother’s Day, I meditated more upon the motherly love for a child that is strong and devoted. When my little one had a hard time sleeping, that baby often woke up in the early morning and cried out (she still wakes up at 3AM almost every day). I, as one of the best husbands in the world, slept with the baby in the same room in order to let Joohee sleep well through the night. Later, I found out that Joohee holds the baby more than me and she pats the baby to go back to sleep almost every early morning. Guess what? I was not able to hear the baby crying, although I slept with the baby in the same room. However, Joohee heard it from the other room and came to hold the baby. Then, for her convenience, we switched rooms.

The love of a mother to her child is truly unique – unconditional and sacrificial, intense and personal. This love absolutely reflects the love of our God.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (JOHn 3:16, ESV).

In other words, we all are blessed by a rich legacy of love!

One of the disciples of Jesus, John, described himself in the Gospel of John as the disciple “whom Jesus loved” (Jn 13:23). In other words, Jesus’ love for John was the key for him and his identity.

That did not simply mean that Jesus loved him more than other disciples, but he had encountered Jesus’ true love and it was embedded into his being.

Sisters and brothers, that same love is in you and your life. That same Jesus calls us the beloved.

"For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39, ESV)

Can you feel the love of our God that has been confirmed at the Cross? Let’s take a moment to meditate upon that love. I hope that you may have a moment to confess the same statement as John...

“I am the disciple whom Jesus loves.”

Amen.

1. WORSHIP

Grace Ministry has its worship service every Sunday at 10AM on our YouTube channel due to the pandemic. Please open the YouTube app or go to our website for the live streaming 5 minutes prior to the worship hour and prepare your hearts for worship through prayer. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

2. LOCAL MISSION
Nazareth Hospital ICU

Grace Ministry has continued to serve the local community. Even though this is a very stressful time for everyone, let’s continue to serve the people and agencies in need around us. Thank you all for your support and prayers. Let’s keep it up together. If you want to participate or if you are working as an essential worker, please let Pastor Sean, Sue Im or Rick Heuser know.

3. SMALL GROUP & WELLNESS SUPPORT GROUP

We have constantly encouraged our GM family members to join our virtual small groups via ZOOM. If you want to join, please contact Tom Kim (Adult Education Committee Chair) or Jessica Kim (Wellness Support Group). Due to the pandemic, this is a critical moment that we need spiritual and emotional supporters for one another. Let’s show our presence for our sisters and brothers in Christ and empower one another to continue our hope in God through these small groups.

4. Bible Handwriting

We still have some open spots. Please sign up and take this project as your own devotional – reading and writing the Word of God every day! The due date was postponed to June 7, but let’s postpone the due date once again to August. I hope we can resume our regular gatherings and worship around that time. If you need more Bible writing paper that is specially designed for this project, please feel free to let me know. I can mail it out or deliver it to you.
