AN ORIGINAL VOICE SLICING THROUGH THE DEAFENING SILENCE ON LIFE AFTER 50 FOR BLACK WOMEN...
KAREN ARTHUR IS A FRANK, UNAPOLOGETIC WOMAN SHARING HER EXPERIENCES ON EVERYTHING FROM FASHION TO MENOPAUSE
Karen is a woman with a powerful message to send. A former teacher, she’s a fashion creative, private sewing tutor, stylist, model, content creator and speaker who has been honing her craft for over 40 years. More recently, she has focussed on creating beautiful clothing for women who appreciate hand crafted care and slow fashion.
Whilst creating bespoke pieces, Karen has been cultivating her voice and is on a mission to share with women of all ages on the highs, lows, pressures and gains of life after 50.
She lifts the veil on the inevitable and fundamental changes that every woman will go through, shedding light on the evolution of the female experience and the need for women to own their value and buck convention, stereotypes and the world’s attempts at erasure. All this with a wicked wit and uncompromising truth.
Karen speaks publicly on fashion and mental well-being, diversity in menopause and loneliness. Her video feature for @StyleLikeU ‘Getting Dressed: A self-acceptance project’ has surpassed 370k views on Youtube.
She is a strong advocate for dressing for the way you want to feel - Wear Your Happy - and the links between fashion and mental wellbeing.
She presents and produces Menopause whilst Black, a podcast that centres around Black British women's experiences with menopause in a bid to diversify this topic and is currently one of the lead faces for the Specsavers 2020 campaign.
