Anna O'Duffy Sundarbans VP 16

Everyday for 10 weeks, we cycled to a lovely little school in rural India...

Where, everyday, we would be greeted by smiling, happy faces....

And everyday, we taught and we learnt, we laughed and we danced in beautiful classrooms like this one...

And when we got home everyday, it was play-time with the boys...

Everyday after dinner and lesson plans, our team would chill out...

The weekends were also packed with fun, sometimes a boat trip around the Sundarbans or a visit to the hustle and bustle of Kolkata...

And almost every night in the Sundarbans, we were treated to a beautiful sunset like this one...

It is not everyday you get the chance to live and teach in somewhere as amazing as the Sundarbans. And I loved every single day I spent there!

... with the brilliant children I met...

...and the whole bunch of new (slightly burnt!) best friends I made, who were a huge part of the whole experience.

The Suas Volunteer Programme is a superb way to indulge your travel bug, make new friends but most importantly, to share education with children who want and need to learn. The sustainability of the programme means you will have a lasting impact in the lives of schoolchildren.
