The great depression was a horrible time. There was very little money being made. People had to give up everything they had. They sold almost anything. They sold, children, pottery, cars, and other things. Many people died of starvation.The great depression went through 1929-39.

The thing that caused the great depression was the stock market crash.

Many didn't know what do to. People protested for jobs, and had to leave their family because they didn't have enough money to take care of them. Others went into crime. People started getting unemployed because they couldn't be paid. Kids were abandoned, some went to orphanages and home shelters.

Famous people of the depression were, Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was the president at the time.
