It's extremely hard to believe that we only have three weeks left of the 2018 school year. The team can't wait to see you all at parent teacher interviews next Thursday. It is a real joy to celebrate children's success with you all. Students are always proud to share their portfolios and we look forward to presenting you with their end of year reports.

This week we received exciting news from the Field of Dreams Foundation and Vector Wero Whitewater Park. Our students have been selected to appear in a video to help promote the foundations wonderful work in the community. Our school patrols will be rewarded for their outstanding contribution with an action packed day of white water rafting.

Athletics 2018

Congratulations to everyone who participated in last weeks Y3-Y6 Athletics Day. We were blessed to have sun out all day. It was wonderful to watch our athletes achieving their very best performances in all the events. A huge thanks to the parents and whanau who gave up their precious time to support our children. Good luck to the students who have qualified for the Otara Schools Athletics Champs next week.

School Parking

When you are dropping off or picking up children please ensure you do not park in the flats car park next to school, on yellow lines or across any driveways. The Police are supporting us to enforce parking rules around the school drop off zones. Please assist us to keep everyone safe.

2019 Students/Pre School Morning

We are considering the make-up of our classes for 2019. To help us with this job, it is useful to be informed of any new students who intend coming to Chapel Downs and of any families who are leaving. If you have neighbours, family or friends who are planning to come here please encourage them to pre-enrol. Our Pre-school Visit Morning will be held tomorrow- Thursday 22nd November from 9.15am

Term 4-Parent/Student/Teacher Interviews

It is well established that schools with a close home and school partnership are more successful in meeting goals and targets for learning and teaching. The team is looking forward to reporting to you on students’ progress against their learning goals. Parent / Student / Teacher interviews will be held in week seven –Thursday 29th November from 2pm. Junior Tabloid Sports

The Y0, Y1 and Y2 students will participate in the Tabloid Sports day on Wednesday 5th December from 11.00am.

Service Awards/Graduation/Prizegivings

This year on Friday 7 December at 1.30pm we will honour our Year 6 leavers at our Service Awards/Graduation Ceremony. All Year 6 students will be presented with their Graduation Certificates at this event.

Junior Prize Giving will this year be held in the morning at 11.15am on Thursday 13th December. We will again hold our Senior Prize Giving at 6.30pm on Thursday 13th December.

Last Day Arrangements

School will officially close for Y0, Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4 and Y6 students at 3.00pm on Thursday 13th of December. This year’s Y5 students are to return on Friday 14th December until 10.30am. The last day for the after school care programme is Thursday 13th December.

Mana Kidz Whānau Survey

Mana Kidz is a free health service that is provided to children at our school. Our aim is to ensure all children are healthy. They would like to hear from parents and whānau about how they could improve the Mana Kidz service in 2019. Have your voice heard through completing this short, 2-minute survey. Auckland Libraries

A librarian from Auckland Libraries will be visiting our school assembly on Friday 30th November to tell the students about the exciting and FREE Kia Māia te Whai - Dare to Explore summer reading programme. Look out for the fliers and take your children along to your local libraryto take part in this bilingual programme. Participate in FREE library activities; earn stamps, stickers and a party invitation! Get involved and see why children/ tamariki enjoyed reading with Auckland Libraries last summer!
