Dreams and Aspirations Creted by Kodi Maxwell

Universal Theme:

Dreams can make you happy or they can destroy your happiness.

"Of Mice and Men"

Society and dreams clash in the real world and in books and text. Society can be cruel and unforgiving and your dreams and hopes, however close they are, can be snatched and crumbled in front of you by society's cruel ness. Authors express this thought in the book 'Of Mice and Men'.

Tell me--like you done before. About the rabbits. Come on George. Tell me. Please George. Like you done before.
But not us! An' why? Because... because I got you to look after me, and you got me to look after you, and that's why.

These quotes represent Lennie's dream to be on a farm with George. He wants to make sure that George is with him. But he doesn't know that his dream is sadly going to be crushed by society. Society clashes with George and Lennie's dreams when George finds Curley's wife dead on the ground in the barn. Poor Lennie, he didn't know how strong he was, all he wanted was to tend the rabbits at the dream farm.

"The Scarlet Ibis"

The Scarlet Ibis also express the way of how dreams and hopes can be snatched away from you, but his story also gives the thought of how forcing someone to fill the dream that you both have can hurt you.

In "The Scarlet Ibis" Doodle, the younger brother, is born disabled and his older, ashamed of how he wasn't able to walk like a normal boy or do anything else, wanted to try and make it so he's able to walk again. Doodle's older brother wanted to play with Doodle like a normal boy, wanted to play catch and tag with him, and Doodle wanted this too. Doodle wanted to be able to walk too. But when Doodle and his brothers dream clashed all it led to was Doodle's death.

He was born when I was six and was, from the outset, a disappointment.
I'm gonna teach you to walk, Doodle.
I can't walk, Brother.

"Superheros" by The Script

The lyrics to the song 'Superheroes' has a lot of meaning to it. I chose this song because in one of the lyrics it shows how society took something away from a girl to give it to another person who they believe they needed.

This lyric shows how someone stole another persons dream so they could give it to someone else.

Society can take dreams away from people. It doesn't matter who you are or what you do, if you have a dream try to reach it don't let anyone take it from you.

Universal Theme:

Dreams can make you happy or they can drestroy your happiness.

Dreams can have a big impact on everyone in the world, as long as it's not too far away and it's not unreachable. Doodle and his brother learned this and so did George and Lennie, although their dreams were not far and they were reached society crushed them before they could be achieved. One thing that impacted my life is this saying that I just made up (I think) is 'Your dream is your dream, don't let anyone take that away from you, it's what makes you you.'
