Ridley is the first receiver the Falcons have selected in the first round since drafting All-Pro Julio Jones in 2011. The Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. native was one of the nation’s most explosive wide receivers in college last season. He caught 63 passes for 967 yards and five touchdowns, while averaging 15.3 yards per catch. Over his three-year career with the Crimson Tide, he had 224 receptions for 2,781 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Ridley finished second in Alabama history for receptions (224) and receiving touchdowns (19), while ranking third in receiving yards with 2,781 yards. During his stay in Tuscaloosa, AL, he totaled eight career 100-yard receiving games to tie for third in the university’s record books. Ridley also caught at least one pass in all 44 games of his Alabama career to rank third among active receivers in the FBS during 2017.
Ridley is the third player out of Alabama that General Manager Thomas Dimitroff has selected since his arrival in 2008. He is the third wide receiver out of Alabama to be selected by the Falcons. Ridley is also the first offensive player selected in the first round since Head Coach Dan Quinn was hired in 2015 and the second straight year the Falcons have selected a player 26th overall in the Draft.
