Connecting STEM and Literacy BCEF Grant in Action at Coffin Elementary School

Fairly Tales Problem Solving STEM Kits for Kindergarten Classes at Coffin Elementary School

Using funds provided by a BCEF Grant, three STEM kits were purchased for each Kindergarten class at Coffin School.

STEM education helps students explore, observe, question, predict, and investigate through science, technology, engineering and math.

This innovative resource takes traditional fairy tales used in classroom instruction and brings them to life.

Kids engineer happier endings to fairy tales—they design a house that can’t be blown down, construct a bridge that keeps three goats safe from the troll, and build a chair even Goldilocks can’t break!

The kits provide students with hands-on materials to inspire, problem solve, challenge, and explore key skills and concepts from the Brunswick curriculum and common core standards.
