German Reunification By: Jose Aguilera

Germany is well known for its culture, food, history, and beauty. Located in the center of Europe, Germany is a very powerful country having the fifth largest economy in the entire world.

Although Germany seems like a wonderful country now, after the World War II, United states, United Kingdom, and France kept the parts of land they had occupied during the war. They took the West and separating Germany. The West was the Federal Republic of Germany and the Soviet’s, being communists, took over the East and called it the German Democratic Republic. This caused lot of problems because of the two different types of governments. In 1949 the country was divided. In 1961, the city of Berlin was also divided with the construction of the Berlin Wall.

Reconstruction is virtually complete in East Germany but they will never catch up to the West.
