David Galletly

David Galletly is an artist, illustrator, animator, and graphic designer who is from Stirling. Galletly took a HND course in Graphic Design at Forth Valley College. After finishing his course, he got a job at Argos where he worked until 2012; while at Argos he continued to create art work. He managed to do part time freelance work while working at Argos, so his work was getting seen by the public. He submitted some of his work to an art show, and got showcased in it. From this he was able to network with people that wanted to buy his work. He got the opportunity to create a window display which he used to launch himself into selling more of his work. After getting the chance to sell his illustrations he decided that he needed to refine his skills and style, he said that he used his favourite artists and illustrators to refine his style. In 2009 he got help from Cultural Enterprise Office to become self-employed (though not fulltime), he later become fulltime self-employed in 2012. Galletly is the Head Art Director at the record label ‘Lost Map’ – which was launched in 2013. He creates the album covers, artwork, and posters for the record label that their artists can us. In 2012 Galletly got the chance to produce work on a monthly basis for Wired magazine- they are usually small illustrations; however, he then began creating 20 frame animations for the magazine’s iPad edition.

ISO worked with global brand experience to create the XX Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony, they created all the graphic and visual effects for Europe’s largest ever screen at the ceremony. This was their biggest project they had ever done, it involved working with the choreographers, lighting, pyrotechnic, and live performers to make sure everything was in sync and ran smoothly throughout the entire ceremony.
