AMERICAN QUEEN STEAMBOAT - TRULY THE MOST RELAXING TRIP YOU WILL EVER TAKE... LIFE SLOWS DOWN ON THE RIVER

If true relaxation and reliving the past is what you might be looking for, have a look at these pictures and get ready to step back in time...

You can click on any photo to see it enlarged, or see them as a slide show.

Yes, the paddlewheel absolutely works!!

Getting ready to board...

Eeeeeeek - so excited!!

Some of the 'public' places'. Honestly, you can do as much - or as little - as you want on the boat.

The Grand Staircase

The Ladies Parlour...

The 'Gentlemen's Card Room'

This is what the majority of the staterooms look like - both with private and 'public' verandas. Honestly - there is more storage/closet space than in some hotels!! Pictures don't do it justice...

Beautiful dining room - and the food! Unbelievably good!!

The Grand Saloon - entertainment every evening, special guests and activities during the day. Some evenings there is 'local' entertainment, other evenings is the on-board entertainment team - fantastically good!!

The Paddlewheel - I couldn't get enough...

The Mark Twain Reading Room - lots of comfy chairs to curl up in and read a bit... Or play cards... Or do puzzles... Or read some history...

The Engine Room Bar. I may - or may not have - spent some time here... The band would move up here after the entertainment in the Grand Saloon - some nights were blues nights; some were jazz; some were not really karaoke - but others could join in; some were special guests. Always great entertainment, and great fun!

The 'Captain's Bar' - just outside of the main dining room so you could have a drink before (or after) dinner. Piano bar that proved quite entertaining some evenings!

The 'Front Porch' - buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner; 24 hour snacks; a bar; and just a great place to 'hang out'!

One of my favourite spots... Can't you just imagine??

The Calliope Bar - unfortunately undergoing renovations while we were on, so it wasn't open... A good reason to go back again! Plus the pool and the sundeck.

Did I mention the food??

Yes, those were frogs legs. And the breakfast! Oh, my...
Jerry - the Riverlorian. He spoke daily, and what he knows about this river is incredible...
See her??

Calliope Concert!

Captain's Farewell Cocktail Party with alligator bites and Captain Bobby Duncan. Funny, funny man...
With the wonderful Erin. My wine glass was never empty - no matter what time of the evening...
