"I DECIDED TO CONVERT A VAN INTO MY VERY OWN LITTLE OFF GRID HOME, PACK MY BAGS AND LEAVE TO TRAVEL THE WORLD" "MY FIRST STOP SPAIN GALICIA"

after almost TWO YEARS OF PLANNING AND 7 YEARS OF SLOWY CHANGING MY PATH, MY NEW CHAPTER IN LIFE is just around the corner.FOLLOWING YOUR HEART ISNT ALWAYS EASY BUT IM EXCITED.

I'm looking forward to MEETing NEW PEOPLE, seeing NEW THINGS, LEARNing NEW SKILLS, Being MORE SELF-SUFFICENT, FINDing MYSelf AND CARRying OUT ACTS OF RANDOM KINDNESS......

WE HAVE ALL LOST FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES, LIFE REALLY IS TOo SHORT NOT TO DO THE THINGS THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY.

im a free spirit

24HRS TO GO AND I WAS MAKING SURE I HAD EVERYTHING READY, SLOWlY TICKING THINGS OFf MY CHECKLIST. I SEEMED TO HAVE EVERYTHING APART FROM ONE THING....ONYX

if you didn´t read the first part of my blog, i lost my boy onyx the day we were first scheduled to leave...i MISS YOU SO MUCH X

SAYING MY GOODBYEs TO THIS LOT WAS REALLY HARD

i MISS YOU ALL SO MUCH....

so MY PLAN WAS TO DRIVE TO portsmouth the night before, and to be READY FOR BOARDING AT 08:45. SO THAT´s WHAT I DID, I FILLED UP WITH DIESeL AND OFF I WENT.

I CANT BEGIN TO TELL YOU THE THINGS THAT WERE GOING THROUGH MY MIND AND HOW I WAS FEELING. IT was REALLY HAPPENING

TUESDAY MORNING 08:00 AND I WAS IN LINE. THE ONLY THING I could THINK about WAS the fact I had FORGOT MY BLOODY GB STICKER :-)

PORTSMOUTH TO BILBAO in 24HRS. NOT SO BAD

"A little close to the edge"

the FIRST THING I DID WHEN I GOT ON BOARD WAS TO FIND THE DOG KENNELS,I THEN pretty much SPENT THE NEXT 24HRS WITH THESE GUY´s

ONE OF THEM EVEN INVITED ME BACK TO HIS PLACE FOR TEA

HE WAS HAPPY I WAS THERE, BUT WAsn´t GOING TO LET ME SIT ON HIS BED OR HAVE HIS BALL

AT THIS STAGE, I WAS REALLY MISSING MY BOY.

MY TIME ON BOARD SEEMED A LITTLE SURrEAL. I WAS WAITING FOR THIS DAY FOR SO LONG and IT JUST DIDN´t SEEM REAL. I FELT ON TOP OF tHE WORLD!

I arrived IN SPAIN AND, AS A DOGGY PERSON, I SEEMED TO BE THE ONLY HAPPY PERSON BEING GREETED AND SEARCHED BY CUSTOMS.

I THINK THEY WERE SICK OF ME MAKING SUCH A FUSS OF THE DOGS. i´M SURE ONE even SAID

"CRAZY HIPPY"

just let him go.

GOOD TIMES

AT THIS STAGE MY ONLY PLAN WAS TO HEAD NORTH-WEST TO GALICA WHERE I HAVE FRIENDS WHO HAd JUST MADE THE MOVE FROM THE U.K.

I WAS FEELING A LITTLE SEaSICK AND OVERWHELMED, SO I PARKED UP AND GROUNDED MYSELF FOR AN HOUR, THEN I HIT THE ROAD.

AROUND 500 MILES TO DRIVE

I WAS HALF WAY THERE AND I WAS FEELING TIrED, SO I MADE SOME DINNER AND SANDWICHED BEETWEEN THESE TWO MONSTERS FOR THE NIGHT!

BREAKFAST, THEN I HIT THE ROAD. I WAS NOW HEAdING TO THE RIBEIRA SACRA. I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING THESE TWO

30, 20, and then 10 MILES TO GO!

AT THIS STAGE I WAS GETTING VERY EXCITED. I ARRIVED TO THIS, this was not as wide as it looked!

I THOUGHT "HOW AM I GOING TO GET THIS...

...DOWN THAT !!"

and guess what?

i got stuck

WE HAD TO DO A LITTLE GROUND WORK. LUckily THERE WAS A GOOD TEAM WAITING.

A NICE SURPRISE, WABy AND FINA WERE ALSO STAYING AT THE LITTLE WOODEN HOUSES. WABy IS SUPER COOL AND once I GOT TO KNOW FINA "THE MEXICAN QUEEN", WE SOON BECAME GOOD FRIENDS.

SO FINALLY I WAS IN AND GREETED BY THIS BEAUTIFUL GIRL

"PUPPY"

who may i add was very happy to see me

now i was in I HAD TO FIND A NICE SPOT FOR THE VAN, SOMEWHERE GOOD FOR THE SOLAR and with a nice view

THAT WILL DO

NOW TO EXPLORE MY NEW HOME, WELL FOR NOW....

AND THE AREA AROUND IT

GALICIA,SPAIN

"Galicia, an autonomous region on Spain’s rugged northwestern coast, is home to ancient relics, pagan myths and a vibrant, living history unlike anywhere else in the world. The area boasts some of the most spectacular gorge scenery in Europe. Terraces of vines perch precariously on improbably steep slopes and a multitude of medieval monasteries, churches and chapels overlook the rivers or nestle in gentler terrain nearby. Lying northeast of Ourense the Ribera Sacra is located deep in the interior of Galicia. From early Christian times hermits and then monks settled in the area, building monasteries which exerted an influence over the whole of Galicia"

GALICIA IS STUNNING :-)

SINCE BEING HERE I´VE MADE FRIENDS WITH SOME GREAT PEOPLE

AND THERE PARTLY THE REASON I FIND IT HARD TO MOVE ON....

HERE ARE SOME OF THE THINGS I HAVE GOT UP TO WHILST LIVING HERE

EATING FOOD FROM THE GARDEN AND LEARNING TO GROW MY OWN FOODS

fitting THE SOLAR system and changing the electrics from 220v - 12 volts

BUILDING OUR OWN COMPOSTING TOILET

building THE KITCHEN

FIXING THE LOG BURNER AND INSTALLING A NEW FLU

MAKING OUR OWN CLAY POT FRIDGE

doing a Queimada

"which is a ritual to distance the bad spirits that, according with the tradition, lie in wait for men and women to try to curse them.Queimada is now part of the Galician tradition and considered as a sign of Galician identity."

making our own cider

HAND WASHING

I THOUGHT it WAS GOING TO BE EASY.. oh how i was so wrong

wool SHOULD HAVE A WARNING STICKER ON IT SAYING

"very heavy when wet!!"

and helping out at the local animal sanctuary "mino valley farm"

Spain in general isn´t a great place for animals, the sanctuary do an amzing job and have become good friends. Mike and Abigail run it on there own, they have nearly 150 animals. there always looking for help and support, so if your in Galicia get in touch

so now that brings me up to christmas time, and my adopted spanish family Heard i was staying on my own so i got a very tempting invatiion to spend christmas with them in Madrid.
