Galley Hill Primary School Newsletter 11th October 2019

Another busy week at Galley Hill. With a visit from some Nurses to talk to Year 1 to Bridges being built in Nursery.

House points

Well done to everyone in collecting your house points this week. I am pleased to share with you the running total so far. Well done to you all and I look forward to seeing the totals next week.

Times Table Rock Stars

It was great to see all the children who achieved the most valuable player certificates this week. There was some wonderful competition in the 'Battle of the Bands' as well, with some nail biting last minute comebacks. Well done to all of you. It is really making an improvement in your times tables fluency and speed.

School Life

Year 3 have been looking at different ways to explore an answer this week in maths. With some really good reasoning skills and maths vocabulary, it was great to see.

Year 4 have been using Talk for Writing techniques in their writing for the past week. Their writing was wonderful, with some great diary entries about discovering a tomb in Ancient Egypt.

Year 3 and Year 4 are wanting any used Pringles tubes for their topic. If you have any empty ones, they would be greatly excepted by Miss Wales and Miss Andrews.

Aldi Kit for Schools

We have filled our first poster, which is great. Thank you for all the stickers that you have been bringing in.

However, we are still collecting. We have a brand new poster that is already beginning to fill up.

Hopefully we can fill this one up as well before the deadline. Thank you for all the stickers so far.

Secondary School

These deadlines come around quicker than we all think. Completed applications must be made by no later than the published closing date of 31 October 2019. All details for this can be found on the admission pages on the Redcar and Cleveland admission website.

Bikes and Scooters

It is wonderful to see so many children come to school on either a bike or a scooter. Please could you help maintain safety on the school site by ensuring that children are walking their bikes and scooters into school from the main gates and park them up in the designated space. Thank you for your co operation.

Topic afternoon

I would like to invite you into school on Wednesday 23rd October from 1:45pm to be part of our first topic afternoon. There will lots of topic work going on in school and it is a chance for you to take part in helping create something with your child(ren) as well.

A message from David Attenborough

It is wonderful to see how passionate our children are in their writing and reaching out to others. When opening up the naming of the school houses, I knew that there would be some great names coming back to choose from. It was also wonderful to see this arrive with Adam, who wrote to David Attenborough to ask him what he thought of his suggestions for the school houses. His suggestions were great, along with many others. Well done, and how lucky to have a response from David Attenborough himself.

Finally

It has been another busy week, with another two weeks still to go. It is wonderful to see the work that the children have been doing, how they have settled in to their new year groups and the challenges which they are overcoming to be more resilient in their learning.

Have a wonderful weekend.
