I am Maria (Cary) Alvarez and I am in the first term of the Adult Education and Human Resource Developmnet Masters at FIU. My research interest include bias and stereotyping within organizations and how they impact functionality within the workplace. My experience has revolved around children and child development. My experience has allowed me to solidify my teaching style which is a nurturing style.
For our adult education course we had to present a teaching module. My group and I focused on teaching methods. The object was to expose learners to the wide variety of teaching methods and have them start thinking on how they could be utilized. Our learning objectives were:
And the assessment tool we used was a multiple choice quiz.
Prior to this course, my awareness of the various teaching methods was inexistent. Post my research on the topic I realized that the different methods were abundant and the focus should be placed on what I actually teach. Although learning about teaching methods was useful I found the process insightful, in the sense that it serve as a means to examine what I want to get across. Since my presentation I have focused my interests into finding the content I want to teach.
