"Everyone loved Elizabeth. The passionate and almost reverential attachment with which all regarded her became, while i shared it, my pride and delight." (Pg. 40)
This quote contributes to the theme that I chose because basically everyone fell in love with Elizabeth just because she was so beautiful.
"I had desired it with an ardor that for exceeded moderation; but now that i had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart." (Pg. 70)
This shows that even his own creator, judged him before he even got to learn about his creation. Before he could even figure out if it would talk, walk, how it thinks or anything, he immediately felt disgusted and scared of it because of its appearance.
"The appearance of Justine was calm. Yet she appeared confident in innocence and did not tremble... And as her confusion had before been adduced as a proof of her guilt." (Pg. 100-101)
This quote relates to my theme because even though Justine was innocent and knew she was, people looked at her confusion and defensiveness as her being guilty of Williams murder.
"Hideous monster! Let me go. My papa is a syndic- he is M. Frankenstein- he will punish you. You dare not keep me." (Pg. 179)
In this quote, although William doesn't know this creature, he automatically assumes its a monster because of its appearance. Yes Frankenstein was huge, and even hideous, but he did not want to be a monster at heart.
"I remembered that i was forever deprived of the delights that such beautiful creatures could bestow and that she whose resemblance I contemplated in regarding me, have changed that air divine benignity to one expressive of disgust and affright." (Pg. 180)
In this quote, Frankenstein feels as if he will never know what it feels like to be loved all because of his appearance and others thinking of him as a horrible creature.
